piston ring alinment

Should all rings be lined up with the gap in the same spot?
Does it matter?

I have built a lot of motors. I always set the rings gaps 180 off of each other. Know what I mean.

ring gaps 180* this make the gasses travel the farther to get to the next opening

They should be indexed 120 degrees apart

yep they all go far apart. It's late for me....like 2, 6 and 10 o'clock.

Prepare for sore fingers from gapping rings.

It takes time and TLC.
