Larger centerline numbers usually are better in the lower to middle rpm ranges. There is less overlap. You can use more duration and lift to help compensate for the greater centerline to help with higher rpm power. Diesels though don't operate in the rpms that gassers do though but the same principles will aplly in how the cam will react in relationship to power vs rpm range.
