I have a set of stock non-egr LB7 heads and I just went thru all the intake bolts-not one of them could get coolant in them they are all blind holes-I looked all over them and can not see a way for it to even get to them

even going thru the exhaust valve how would it get to the intake-it gets dumped out the downpipe. I have seen on gassers where a crack will allow it to fill up the intake but it would be via the valves. Find someone with a smoke machine and hook it up to the cooling system after you drain the coolant. You may have to take off at least the intercooler outlet tube to see smoke in the intake. Or, you could remove the intake all together and pressure it up with coolant in it to see where its coming from. My guess is going to be cracks in coolant chambers around the intake valves.
Very common on aluminum heads for years, not sure about diesels but very common on gas engines. The only way to find them is to remove the heads, build plates or rubber plugs and pressure it up with an air hose per each cylinder. If you look at how the heads are designed I cannot even see any water passeges near the intake manifolds at all
