I am in the process of replacing a water pump on my 99 sierra with a 5.3. Pink coolant draining out. Anyone know anything about it good or bad? Probably not a good idea to mix with the dexcool I have?

Haven't seen any pink stuff for the street. Wonder if it's water wetter that someone put in. I'd want to have that same brand stuff in the system. Not sure if the chemicals for one will mix well with the other. Wouldn't be much work to flush and start fresh. Just my opinion.

It's weird…some is orange and some is pink….like it never mixed. 
Top port has pink and bottom is def orange.

I read that and forgot they mentioned the pink stuff. Sounds like a Toyota or VW antifreeze and not good..

The first coolant to come out was pink but must be some orange came out after. The gaskets were leaking. Not factory gaskets…must have been done before.
How do you have two types of coolant and have it not mix if its in the motor. I agree the pink looks way different. Pink is a known coolant used in Toyota vehicles, it's nasty shit.
Anyone have anything bad to say about Fel-Pro gaskets? The ones I got are a rubber ring style with metal base. That's what was on the truck and leaking. Could be they didn't torque correctly or clean surfaces good last time though.
Good thought. According to the dipstick the trans fluid is nice and red and smells good.
Good deal. If you know what trans fluid smells like, you'd be able to smell it in the coolant too if it was mixed.
I flushed it out pretty good. Throwing fresh Dex in. Also going with Permatex for gaskets…looks like the block has a little pitting where the seal would go so I'm not taking the chance on using the other gaskets.
Whouldn't it be getting into the trans then? No signs of that happening at this point that I can tell. To check it…meaning pressure test?
