Wonder how this would do on a DD truck? Too bad I couldnt have good coilovers on the front of my truck for hunting season. Id be in heaven

i would have no hesitation of putting it in a daily driver , still just a spring and a shock . just make shure your mounts are stong enough .

When you get it finished and find out what works best let me know... Btw What were the part numbers on those shocks?

Yeah let me know the PN. I wonder if I can get a little longer shock and poke my front end in the air a bit.

Bump on the p/n. Did you have to change your upper shock mount any? Or is everything pretty much in the stock location?

I never though you could ditch the T bars on these trucks, cool.

Please tell me why its good to ditch them. Better ride?

Jeff we need more details. Could we possibly use that setup for sled pulling with heavier springs maybe? That has got to ride better than stock.

Exactly...........I've been pondering this and I have almost convinced myself that it will work for sledpulling as well. I'm not sure how we would adjust ride hieght from D.D. to race to pull. I assume that we would set-up ride hieght for racing and leave it...........just have to deal with a "low" front stance for D.D. and for pulling it prolly don't matter cause we usually end-up setting on the rubber jounce blocks anyway.
What-you-think????

the real benifit from this swap is the valving in the shock and weight savings .

torsion bar is just a spring just like the coil , only advantage the coil over has is you can choose your own spring rate . i can assure you the stiff front end is not from too much spring rate its poor shock valving . the spring is quite soft ( i drove the truck with out shocks to test ) , its the overly stiff compression valving in the shock that makes it ride ruff .

I can't argue with that...........but I have never thought that my truck rode rough at the front (rear is a differant story). For me, this mod would be for better 60' times without hurting the sledpull set-up. The D.D. set-up would prolly be fine. I think that is what you are saying.........right???

just saying the benifit from this for the track/sled pulling or daily driving is in the shock valving . you can do the coil over or just shock only and get the same beifit other than the weight savings from the coil over set up . either setup is still just a shock and a spring .

Understood...............now the key is finding and matching coil-spring to shock. I got some homework to do!!

weight the front. ie 4000lb on the front... 2000 a corner. rought that is you loaded ride hieght

pending lenght of hte srping depics you spring ratings

14" 500lb/in spring will compress 4" for the load
a 10" 1000lb/in will compress 2"

pic the shock
find what lenght spring works with it
figuer out were you what ride hieght to be on the shock.. ie 10" stroke 5" ride hieght give you 5" of droop and 5" of compression.

thats this gist of it.. can get in to more detials

Yeah............that all makes sense (other than the typo's:rofl:)
Where/who would be the best place to start looking at springs?? Can we get a spring heavy enough??
I am hoping to use a Fox 2.0 coilover (maybe with a resevoir).

what ever you choose make shure it is adjustable and has enough valving to keep your front end from lifting up during launch . summit has a large selection of shocks and coils , i would maybe sway to something more street performance oriented than the Fox, off road needs are alot diff than street /racing . unless the FOX have a wide range of adjustibility ? I have the QA1's and i highly recomend them , might look into Koni also .

roughly what is the price for a setup like that. I would like to have more adjustability and shave some weight but if its expensive I can't swing it.
