Picked up trailer today

Well I picked up a 30' Load Max today to trailer the drag truck to Eagle Idaho Labor day weekend.

What did you pay OTD if you don't mind me asking? Ive been looking into some but I hate the 800$ add on charge for DOT because they gross over 10k lbs... :mad:

Yeah, most trailer dealers now offer a spare as an option. I have seen one manufacturer here in Texas that actually listed "new tires" as an option on brand new trailers.

I've got a 32' Load Max with a hydraulic dove, but I'm still going to have to lay 2x10's down to load a lowered truck on flat ground. They make a pretty good pulling trailer, good luck with yours.

Thanks, I made a 60 mile dry run and got some weights. It towed fairly well considering I was loaded forward too much, I was running a pin weight of 2960lbs and it should be around 2550lbs.

Id love to pick up a 32' loadmax with hydraulic dover tail. I was dead set on buying a pj, until I looked at a load max. They look very well built with a lighter price tag.

Yep, that's what I found when looking. I looked at Big Tex as well and the Load Max was better all the way around.

Move it back ~1/2 stack pocket distance.. If you're going to be hauling just that... Paint the deck for reference point
What I did on mine.. Granted my loads very size/weight but the general idea.. Makes it alot easier when you do it yourself too

Side note.. Like how you secured the front! Word of caution from experience... The tow hooks will rub through those straps. Especially on long trips over rough highways

That is what I was planning, I marked where I had it strapped down today. Also I need to adjust my hitch up, the front trailer axle was 5100 lbs and rear was 4640 lbs. Thanks for the heads up on the straps in the front, I have four axle straps on it plus rear hitch and front tow hooks. I will keep a close eye on them on this trip and will figure something else out before the next trip.

I set my Kauffman up when empty on the truck the deck right behind the neck was 1-2" above the deck in between the trailer tandems. When loaded it was 0-1" below trailer tandems deck height..
Another point of reference.. Leaf springs on the 10 and older trucks seam to have a sweat spot with top of the truck frame about 31-32" off the ground with 32" tires. Puts the OEM bumpstops about 2-3" off the axle. Truck is loaded enough to fully work the spring without bottoming out or bounce off the overload spring on the bottom of the spring pack.

Seam like you got enough straps on there..
If you prefer straps... Look into wheel straps that go over/around the tires..

I prefer chains. 5/16" grade 70,(4700#wll) with lever/ratcheting binders.
1-20'
2-10'
4-binders
Would be plenty for one truck and allow you to have 4 point securement.

Swing by Lowe's/home depots see if they got some scrap carpet in carpet area, put it between the straps and steel.. It will help protect the straps. Probably find some rubber/carpet throw Mats at like dollar general/family dollar/dollar tree they usually sell them in a 12" x24" size for 1-2 bucks. Cut them up in strips to use to protect the straps
