The G is actually coupling at a standstill. Let off the brake and it will get to 5 mph by itself.

You got me thinking with this one Mike. I just had to try it my truck runs right up too just under 5 mph from a stop at a 700 rpm idle.
With my power level the R pushes through the brakes at 1900 and flashes too about 2200.
This was consistent for five tries in my max tune. It is hard to be sure what is happening as I cannot launch hard in 4wd there for am experiencing a lot of wheel spin.
