Well the LMM is getting some power upgrades.

First is a built trans for SunCoast. Right now the truck is a max effort tune only. But I've decided do the road I will do a twin kit with a s475/stocker. I'm thinking 1056 but that's what I've always run. I don't know much of anything about Mikes converters. I would love to hear more about them. And which converter you guys think would work well for my setup.

Suncoast 1055 gets my vote. Not too loose not too tight and it couples very well. I would have kept mine but I needed more stall with the new motor.

Yes it has a billet stator. It couples very well and has just the right amount of stall. It works very well with VGT chargers in single and compound applications.

Couples better than 1056? Sorry for all the questions. Wish there was a truck close by with a 54 so I ride in it.

I know my stocker doesn't couple very well at all haha:happy2:

This is what andrew said a little while ago.

1054 -billet stator
1055- billet stator
1058- billet stator

10531-3d -2500-3000 stall, no billet stator. Handles an ungodly amount of power and takes abuse considerably well

I don't have much experience with the 56. I've only ran it in one truck and it served it's purpose for the application but I haven't used one since.

I wish someone in the know would put together a torque converter chart with all makes and models. When I was choosing my converter I really had to dig for the info. The manufacturers don't even lay there own product out for quick comparison.

we are in a time that this really cant happen anymore. Converters have become very tailored now and requires a list of questions to be asked. the right converter can make all the difference in the world when its setup for exactly what your after. think of it like a turbo setup. everyone prefers a different type and depending on your HP goals, truck use goals, and so on, one turbo setup can be much better suited to YOU than another.

talking with someone like Mike, Evan, Suncoast, and so forth is your best bet to get the converter geared to you. Im sure as hell glad i changed from a ML to a ML-G. the ML was great for max effort tuning prior to the built motor and twins but didnt couple worth a damn compared to the ML-G as the truck sits now. its a whole new truck

This is exactly why it would be nice to have them all listed with their specs. Ultimately I made my own converter choice but had to dig for the information in order to make that choice. I am happy with what I got it could be a little tighter but it couples very well and I am thinking about going from 37" to 35" tires the next time around. With 4.56s and 35s I don't think a tighter converter would be what I would want.
What I think would be nice is a chart showing where each converter should stall within the same scenario in comparison to another. Maybe some foot notes about how well each one can be expected to couple.
You can't make a choice based on the variables if you don't have the variables.

people "think" they know what they want based on how they "think" the converter works. if said chart was put together, there would be alot of disappointed people out there who got a converter that didnt perform as well as another would have ;)

1054 has been my favorite with a VGT. Minimal throttle input to get the truck moving, enough flash for a vgt to come right up. Lock up is smooth too.
