It's hard to find someone who cares as much about your stuff as you do.
exactly the only thing I bring my truck to a shop for is tires

Something that I think makes a technician great is doing work out of his own shop, and doing his own warranty. I know I work for about half of what others around me do on the side, and I warranty my work out of my own pocket. until somebody has to REALLY pay for there mistakes, they don't truly understand what it takes to do it right the first time. I know one mistake on several of the vehices I work on would bankrupt me(Iwork on alot of peoples toys that are worth some big bucks), yet I still warranty my work with pride. When you can find somebody who is willing to say he will eat the bill if he doesn't fix it, chances are you've found somebody who can do it right the first time.
Shit I just bring them the wheels :spit:
Another like funny (for me) gem...
Buddy came over and asked if I could show him how to change his brakes because one was throwing rust all over the rim...
Both pics are of the same pad....the guys who took off his lift...obviously didn't much attention to the way the pad went on...

I went to work at a Volvo dealership in the late 90s witn NO shop experience with the exception of mine at home.
I was told I would receive 6m training and go to classes in Atlanta before they turned me loose on my own.
I never, ever received formal training, I went to school in Atlanta once during my 3 or 4 years of working for Volvo.
The day I quit Volvo of Charlotte NC is quite memorable for me.........
I did about $3k (Volvo rates) in work on this womans car (very sweet retired schoolteacher).......she rolls in a few days later saying her ac isn't working.......I get the car, blow out the in-car temp sensor and the ac starts blowing ice cold. I am quite happy, told the adviser not to charge her anything and send her on her way.
2 hours later, I see her car is still in the parking lot.........I asked why it is still here?
UNFNBELIEVABLE WHAT SHE TOLD ME..................
The boss said to let her "cook" awhile then charge her two hours labor!!!!!
I swear to y'all I got PISSED! I literally went and told that lady what was going on.......went to my bay and packed my shit. Somewhere in there I told Perry to shove this job up his **!
I will never, ever understand how folks that do that sort of stuff can look in the mirror!!!
I trust dealerships about as much as I trust a crackhead to watch my dog!!
BTW, yes I was already fed up with their bs.
i never seen a pad put on backwards. Thats a new low for me!

And not enough knowledge to wrench eitherService managers are just salesmen that were too slimy to sell anything

Thats right there with a guy I saw installing a rubber trans cooler line on his power steering ( pressure side ). I sold him a 1 foot piece of hose and 4 clamps. Saw him roking under hood and walked over to see if he needed help. Then I saw what he was doing and tried to stop him. He told me to FO. He then started engine and I watched for a second. The hose began to blow up like a balloon. I ran. It let go but not before it swelled to about 4 inches in diameter.:roflmao: he took a bath.
