Well i dont know what the heck is goin on, my damn security light in the message center wont stay off, it jsut stays on solid. its on my truck (02 chevy 2500hd) heres some background on the truck. I have a viper alarm on the truck with remote start. it uses a DEI 1700g passlock override deal so that the truck can start with the remote. It did this two weeks after i put the twins in (doubt it has much to do with any of that) and the GM security is disabled in EFI Live.

Heres what ive found. One, if i remote start the truck and get in, the security light stays off even after i put the key in, turn it to run, and hit the brake to kill the autostart. Two, Ive pulled the colum and bottom panel searching for any broke/bad wires and have found non, all connections are good and ive reset the DEI controller three times but no fix. Three, i tried seein if EFI Live can read the code (assuming there is one if the light is stayin on) but nothing, pulls no codes at all. I may have forgotten a few other things i did as ive been messing with it over the past few days.

All i can figure is for some reason the ignition cylinder has an open in it or the key is not making the contact point it needs to complete the circuit. Has anyone run across this problem or have any steps for me to try to get the code and/or reset the passlock?

Did a lot of reading on Pass Lock trying to help a buddy with a 99 Grand Prix. I realize that this is not quite the same animal, but in all the reading ... it seems as though the lock cyclinder in the column was wearing out. Thus it didn't match what the BCM was looking for. Turning off the security in EFI Live just makes it so the engine will run. It doesn't fix the BCM.

might want to get ahold of Trent. he wrote some tunes for my truck and wrote it off his '01. my truck would not start (crank) period, even with the security stuff turned off in efilive. mines an '04. yours being an '02 could still run being closer to an '01. but thats what im thinking...it needs to be written for the '02

p.s. Trent did get it fixed :)

well figured it out. turned the security back on in my truck to see if it would give me a code or something, or not allow the truck to start. When i did that and flashed it in, light stays off lol. So what i gather is turing the security system off in EFI live will disable it but will illuminate the security light in the truck. Atleast on my 02 it will (stupid one of a kind truck lol)

Have you disconnected the passlock module and plugged it back in?

If my battery draws to low it resets everything like the clock and such. And I have to unplug the prt that communicates with the factory security/bcm/door locks, and then its back to normal.

yup. didnt make a difference. Its weird, cause the remote start would keep it off, like the key was the wrong resistance but after puttin the security back on with efi live, it went right away
