We are staring the Impala build and want your guys opinion on which way to go. First off i want to stay away from spray.

I have supplied by BD power a pair of s300 with 66 mm compressors and a pair of their turbine diverters. Is this enough air for 1000+ hp?

The other way is do make a triple kit with a s480 I have.

If the tripple is the way to go (this is the way i am leaning) is the 480 and the two 66 a good match and will allow the engine to have room to evole into more hp?

Thanks

A 480 flows around 119 lbs and the two 66's would flow about 156 lbs on the compressor side. In general I think that would not be a good combination for work you are talking. Something more around 72mm would be a better fit with the 66's.

using the 366s as the primaries would really starve that 480, I would think 66-72 behind it would work out well. the two 366 alone as true twins would flow enough air for 1000HP, but the question is would they be able to compress it enough to flow your setup. Maybe with free flowing heads and a good air to water IC to make it flow the heads with a low CR in the turbos

I nod to the tripples Malcolm, we spoke breifly in Edmonton... I was setting tire pressures on Kevin`s truck with the rubber valve stems (if you recall lol) the parrallel 66`s on his truck dont spool worth a damn even with spray.... once it lights its great but the 60ft times are that of a super diesel truck, 250% over injectors and a .046" jet for spool and they just tickle the boost gauges. I tried negative timing for spooling (helped a bit) bigger and smaller jets (only snuffed it on the bigger jets) ect ect, we even swapped converters in the trailer friday night before the Texas race and the higher stall really didnt help much either.

If you look at the other parrallel twined pro stock truck, it has spooling issues too (from the videos ive seen anyways) at the end of the day I feel that 4 cylinders of a dmax just dont have the heat and pressure to drive a 66mm turbo, custom turbine sizing might help but hard to say if it will be sufficient at the top end of the 1320.

Go with the tripples and enjoy low smoke spooling and low 60ft times and room to grow. What final gear ratio are you planning on running? 2.91`s is what we had this year but seemed to rev the motor a bit too much (3500lbs estimated weight) I`d look to the "a" fuel dragster class for gearing, they load those injected nitro motors like no other!

what about using one of the 66's in the valley and getting a 83mm wheel for the s400? a 66 over an s483 should be enough air for 1000hp

I am leaning toward the triple set up too. I do remember you, i also don't know how you passed tech with all rubber stems, lol. I measured the s400 and it is a 73mm compressor, thought it wad bigger. So with the two 66 on turbine divertor valves and a s472 should be good to go. I am also using a ZZ intake. Large valve heads that are ported out.

Gears are 2.50

Tech was a absolute joke all year long.... Edmonton,Billings and Texas. Not one track checked more than the seat belt tags and it coasted to 142mph in Texas lol. That truck needs a few things upgraded before a full race season and being competitve in pro stock, whoever built the chassis must have had more of a fun saturday night street truck in mind.

I`d say you will have zero spooling issues with that set up, especially with the diverter valves, I`ve got a brand new s483 with a billet batmo wheel if you need more air, T6 housing though.

From what I have seen that should be a nice turbo setup :woott:
