Painting/color match door handles

Just called a paint shop to take off my door handles and tail gate handle to color match summit white, then re install for a quoted 500 bucks. Is this typical price? It's the same paint shop that paints Covington's motorcycles, so very reputable. Another 150 to do my mirrors. I couldn't find a YouTube video on how to remove the door handles myself so wonder if I could save some money and remove them myself and then have them paint them...

Any advice b appreciated!

I used to paint cars, planes, and boats. If you can find someone to take the parts off, paint them and put them back on for $500. I would let them.

You have at least $150 in paint supplies if you bought it yourself.

Thanks! I definitely didn't want to paint it myself, but I did want to try and take the parts off myself and take them to the paint shop... Don't know if taking them off/back on myself is worth the time though..

That is an absolute absurd price for the handles!!!

However, that's a great price for the mirrors!

Although all body/paint shops are different.

Every vehicle I've owned since 2001 has been color matched.

Last time I checked with Gm the ones they sell.are smooth only and still need paint and not cheap. Lmc truck parts sells them cheap and there smoothed and just needs painted.

You can also check flea bay.

Most of the dealers around me sell the painted handles as an accessory option.

Thanks Henry for your help. I just ordered my 4 door handles from LMC. They'll be in 2-4 days and then I'll drop them off to be painted.

yeah always buy parts like that are smooth paint to match, trying to paint textured stock handles will not hold up and it looks bad with the texture.

I ordered my escalade handles from the dealership with tailgate handle for a little over $300. They aren't that hard to get off and on. Just have to pull the door panels. Although I know prices have went up on everything at the dealerships since I got them. :thumb:

When I ordered mine a few years ago, they had different part numbers for different colors. But I ordered escalade handles if it makes a difference. The only handle that had to be painted was the tail gate.

Paid 120 bucks for all four handle buckets 4 years ago and 300 bucks for the billet actual handles i put on. Yeah im retarded lol

With all the bean counters they have started cutting back. Only what is needed is ordered in to the plant along with a few spares.

If you search ebay you can find the smooth ones that need to be painted super cheap. I think I paid around $115 for all mine, free shipping. pretty good quality too. I painted them myself so cant comment on cost to paint.

New without dealing with flebay from LMC.I have found it easier to not deal with ebay and just buy new.
