I just had a PPE 5th stage kit put in my Allison, and now I'm getting a P2671. I tried taking some electrical grease to the connection on the back of the tranny, but no luck.
Where should I start troubleshooting?

Good question about the builder, he's a friend in Michigan. I live in FL, so he said to see what I can do.
The truck runs and shifts great, no issues that I can tell. It's just annoying to see the light on

I suspect you have the TCC solenoid or the main mod solenoid disconnected. TCC solenoid is on the far left of the valve body ( driver side ) and the main mod solenoid is all the way on top of the valve body.

Did you check what Mike suggested?

Mike are you a magician?

I finally pulled dropped the pan, and found to my amazement that one of the solenoids was disconnected. Not sure if it's the one you where thinking but here's a picture.

However, I also found a large amount of metal shavings. In some cases, half penny sized chunks.
Could that be because that solenoid wasn't hooked up, or do I have other issues with this tranny? I was getting code P0762, and she stuck in 2nd for a few mins, and then 4th for a few on the way home today.

Should I put it back together and hope for the best?

That was the solenoid I suspected.

As far as the metal; I don't like it. For some reason it looks like a crushed magnet. See if it is magnatised.

I collected all the shavings and put them on a piece of paper so you can see about how much was in there. When I got them all in a little pile I didn't realize that most of them were actually very small.

That's with about 1700 miles on it since build.

The material in the pictures looked like they are soft cast metal pieces. I'm going to take a guess here. Just maybe the plastic washer was not replaced over the .100 shim on the P2 planet. If so, this would cause a metal to metal contact on a rotating assembly and cause the metal that we see.

Is has 2 tabs on it? I'm pretty sure I know which one you're talking about and yes we did replace that. (I watched him do most of the build and specifically remember that part)

I went on ahead and put everything back together though. Drove it for about 20 mins and got a P0741.
Possibly related?

P0741 indicates that the converter clutch never applied. Unless something in the converter let loose or was not assembled correctly, or converter flow valve was stuck in the release position; shouldn't have anything to do with this.

Ok. I checked the fluid level and it was a little low, added another qt, and cleared the code...

Just to make double sure, the tcc solenoid being disconnected doesn't have anything to do with the shavings, correct?

I do agree with your previous statement, they do seem to be made of soft metal.
