LMM: P0717 - Stuck in 1st or 3rd

ust started getting P0717 intermittently. Tonight we got a ton of rain then got it. I'm not sure if the rain is related. This is the input shaft sensor right? Someone else on the forum said he didn't think the LMM had one.

Here is from an old post (when I was having P0716 last year):

"The input speed sensor was attached to the top of the bell housing, and picked up engine speed from the dimples on the converter -- on all previous Allisons.

I think they did away with it in the LMM model, and now gets input from the ECM. "

Is this true? If so, why would I get this code?

I have read that the harnesses for the TCM wear pretty regularly. What do you suggest?

P0717 is the turbine speed sensor and is located on top of the trans case towards the rear.

Thanks Mike. Turns out the twisted pair of wires had a bunch of sand in it (Texas truck). They were worn through the insulation and playing games with me..

All better now!

2011 HD 2500 Duramax Allison Trans

The is telling me I need to replace to Trans solenoid B. I know I've got to drop the pan, but can someone help me understand where Solenoid B is located?

I don't mean to be an ass but if you don't know where to find a solenoid you shouldn't be opening your Trans.

Why are you changing it?

Post the code.
Trim solenoid B has been renamed to PCS2 for quite a while now. Doubt that it's bad. Looking at the valve body right to left; it's the second large solenoid from the right.
