Well some a$$hole sprayed white oil based paint in his driveway on a windy day (me) and there's overspray on my black truck. Re-Paint is out of the question for now, what can I do? do I hit the truck with paint thinner, naptha, mineral spirits? Or am I f**ked?

I guess the plastic "spray booth" I made from an EZ up tent and plastic drop cloths was not sealed up very well.
:(

I've used brake cleaner to no I'll affect on my paint. I had the same situation you are having. Except instead of the neighbor doing it... It was me :( haha I just sprayed it on a rag, whipped the overspray off then cleaned off the area with simple green to be sure there was no brake cleaner left.

Since then, I've been told that brake cleaner may be a bad idea. But nothing happened to my paint job. It was just cleaner in the spots I wiped down lol

Doesn't clay bar take it off pretty good too? seems like that happened to a buddy of mines dads truck and he was able to get it cleaned up with a clay bar kit. Pretty Labor intensive though.

I'd sue the asshole :D Paint thinner will damage the paint I guess but when a barn painter painted my last truck with aluminum pain I used lacquer thinner and then waxed it 3x. worked great

Even tho some of the cleaners mentioned above will work without damaging the paint i wouldnt use them... I would either clay bar it-but thats gonna take forever, or use some aggresive buffing compound with a buffer, ive done it before works great.

Do it right once! Please! Even though claybaring will take time and effort, you will get the best results with it. Depending on what you use can damage your paint in direct sunlight if let dry. Could possible dull or haze the clear. If you have never used a buffer, don't try it out on your truck! You WILL swirl the paint and be pissed or worse burn it or remove the clear and paint on a corner. But what do I know....

Take truck to a professional detail shop and let them clay bar it and then polish it with a buffer. Might be money well spent rather than compounding the problem by using the wrong product or method. Good luck

Easy off oven cleaner will do it. On my pro street car I had some hand painted graphics that needed to go. So easy off was prescribed by my local body shop. It did the trick with out ruining the other 10k in paint.

if my first post wasn't clear enough, I WAS THE ASSHOLE. so I can't sue anyone, I have to make my truck look nice. I will try a variety of the methods, but I think it's probably gonna be Clay Bar. Meguiars stock is gonna go up.

The paint is Benjamin Moore Satin Impervo, thinned with paint thinner so it sprayed evenly. I was painting interior doors and trim prior to installation. I tried thinner when i first noticed it, but it had dried so i didn't rub that hard, as I didn't want to risk the paint underneath. Original Onyx Black from 2006. waxed twice since then. I'm lazy.

Thanks for the suggestions. Wish me luck.
