15.25:1, and those aren't the low compression!!??!??! holy sheet man how low have you gone so far? Isn't stock compression around 18:1?

12.5-12.8ish is the lowest I have currently running right now with success. Mine with 200% overs doesn't have any notable haze to it and without glow plugs or grid heater it starts decent for how low the compression is. Will be putting the glow plugs back in soon though, lol! I'm getting a lot better mileage right now than I did with the twins and 100% inj. which is surprising to me.

must have gotten confused with our engines at work. I was thinking the dmax was 18:1. Now that I think about it, I'd have to look at and see what something like a C7 would run for compression.

Malibu is that white smoke with johns pistons? are you running larger injectors? I'm kind of curious what kind of white smoke im going to see this winter with the 60 overs.

compression ratio for a c7 is 16.5. for the "wax" and "c7s" anyways

I just double checked, C7's run 16.5:1 like you said, and tier 4i C9's are 17:1.

Malibu what CR are your pistons? also do you still have the grid heater and glow plugs? I'm assuming that was white smoke, and not just steam?

yep johns, that was ~15-20 seconds after start up, after about 1-2 minutes at high idle it cleared up substantially. iirc i had roughly 10-15k on the engine

stock everything except the pistons

Didnt you say you had some ring gap problems though?

17:1 is the cr. white smoke
as for ring gap i remember putting substantially more than normal feeler guages in them.. one of two reason in buying the newer truck.. mpg and being able to pull the red one apart without loosing. in not being able to run.... went back through my rebuilding thread when i swapped the dmax in i reported ~12.5mpg avg loaded its been avg 10 for 70,000 miles. pulling it apart this winter and going through and checking it out might even get a 6 speed Alison too

At weekend on the Edge I finally got my 4 digit number. Made 1002.5hp. Should have been higher, but need to help my twin setup with some wastegates. Just passed 25k miles and will be heading to Texas for world finals where I will put 15-20 more passes on at 840hp+.

Truck is running great.

Are you in that grey truck with edge on it? I had no idea it was running oval pistons! You beat me at the RMR diesel shootout :( ImageUploadedByTapatalk1379961705.453172.jpg
