HUGE thanks to JoshH :thumb::thumb: This never would have been possible without his help. He is probably still cursing my name as I right this lol

So basically, I left Houston on Sunday night and drove to Ft Worth TX to pick up the reg cab LMM project. From there I made it to Josh's shop round 10pm. That's where the fun stopped...

The swap

We worked the next 3 days from 7am to 9pm taking the reg cab apart, tearing down my silver truck and then putting the silver truck back 100% stock down the the EGR and DPF. We left he built trans, short on time.

This was brutal!!!! If I get that deep in mods on another daily driver, I will just sell out right and take a loss. Way more trouble than it was worth. We are both worn out from crawling over the engine bay and under the frame sweating our balls off!

Not too many issues, but just a lot of stupid little bolts and brackets to put back on my truck. 1 up pipe bolt was stuck like chuck and cracked a 12pt socket!! luckily it was at the manifold, so josh welded a nut over it and impacted it off.

The drive

I left wednesday night about 10:30pm and started the 10hr drive to Collinsville, IL. About 1.5hrs in, I had reduced power and a code for the throttle blade in the intake and the DPF was full because it wouldn't regen with that throttle blade not working. Apparently my connector wasn't working correctly from being unplugged all this time. I cleaned it with electrical cleaner and a nylon brush, no luck. Thankfully EFILive has a DVT button to force regen, did this for 30min to get to zero soot and rolled on.

So from here on out, every 1.5-2hrs I had to pull over and sit for 30min doing a service regen. I set my timer on my phone and took a nap while this went down. made the trip a lot longer than it should have been!! oh well

Made it down to about 2.5hrs left to the destination. Found the shittiest hotel in Missouri, paid $40 to shower and take a 4hr nap. Got up and headed on in. Stopped and tried getting that valve to work, still no luck. Took in to the dealer for trade and they docked me $750. Oh well, still a win in my book!!

Picked up the new truck and left around 6:30pm and drove straight through to Josh's arriving at 4:15am Friday morning. Parked in front of his shop, turned the AC on high and covered up with a sleeping bag and a towel over my eyes. Josh had to beat on the window a while to get me awake at 8am lol Loaded up, grabbed the trailer and headed back home to Houston.

-------

Unbelievable week long journey!! Can't thank Josh enough, I owe him more than I can ever repay! Mad props to him for making this all happen.

Now the reg cab LMM is sitting up at his shop. The 6.5' bed and replacement door are there ready to go on. Should be a cool build when he's done!! I'm super excited to rip on it!!

Where all the magic happens

Old betsy was looking pretty sad when I drove off. That was a hell of a truck! Never once left me on the side of the road. I had a snap ring fail in the t-case that wouldn't allow 4wd and then a cp3 failed but it still drove home with both problems. Can't complain with all the abuse it went through!!!

And the new truck

The little man was like, "you gave up all that horsepower for this??" lol

Pulled a few decals off the tailgate and the ugly hood decal. Painted the gmc grill logo black.

Thinking about the rims in 20's and running my nitto's I already have off my old truck

The truck looks great, bud. Thanks for letting me take it for a spin. Now I want one. I was happy I could help you make it happen. Now I don't feel so bad about blowing up the motor in your RZR. I think this makes us even.

Your little guy sits still!!!!!!!!!!!!:mad:
Our little monster won't sit still for more than 5 seconds. He's always on the move causing trouble. He's like a little tornado, every room he's in get destroyed, haha.

Sad to see the LMM go but your Denali is really nice!! :thumb:
Josh is a great guy, always takes the time to answer my questions when I ask.:thumb:

Slept 12hrs straight when I finally passed out Friday night. You worked me in the ground!!

I've got spare RZR motors just for you! No clue when the next real ride is but you better count on making a trip out on New Years.

Damn what a long week. Congrats on the new truck. Going to have to get together so I can check out the new truck.

Beers whenever you are ready!! Bone Daddy's is pretty good for lunch, they have good draft choices and their BBQ is awesome

This all seems like a very smart move Russel. Get a toy truck and a good DD that your not having to worry about blowing up everyday.

Yes sir, I think it will work out for the best

I'm super excited to get the little truck going. That thing is going to be nasty on the street

Josh, you're going to make a killing here! If Russ's 2wd is faster than the Tow Mirror Killer, it's going back to you for more go fast loving! I know he will do the same, so it might be cheaper if I just pay you to make his slower! :coolspot:

I haven't run the max effort since I do not have gauges yet. The street tune is laggy and tons of smoke on the bottom. Runs great on the top side though. Looks like an old 12v cummins if your not careful.

The economy/tow tune is a great all around tune. Light smoke but crisp on the bottom and still strong enough on the top. Ran it this weekend all over Texas with an only 18' steel enclosed trailer picking up furniture for the wife. Very happy with this tune so far and will probably leave it on when empty.

I need to log the street tune to see what's going on there and give Kory a call. My fuel system my not be up to par for the demands.
