That's very nice!!! Not sure I like the 2 axles, assuming 6 lug?

I have a Forrest River Work & Play 34' 5th wheel. Had a bumper pull 28' roadmaster toy hauler before. The forrest river kicks it's ass! built like a tank with all aluminum supports in the walls. I pull a 5000lb dyno behind it so I like the stability. How's the frame on this on you bought look? I could go for a nicer interior

Very nice toy hauler! What's the max gvcw on that? You better get started on your 3 link airbag! As much I would like to make a 4 link rear airbag but there is no fuel tank I could find to fit in the rear that has a capacity of over 40 gal. 3 link seems the best way to go.

I'm also looking for a toy hauler as well. I'm stuck on between a 30+ bumper pull or a 5th wheel, one thing that has me leaning to the bumper pull is the camper shell I use for my dogs on the trips. What's your experience on that?

what ive seen it come down to is it depends on your needs. a 5th wheel pulls really nice down the road but my 30ft tongue pull never gave me death grip or anything. i went with a fifth cause i get more trailer for the same overall length from truck to trailer end (which i need so i can still fit it on my side yard). I have more interior cargo space for more toys down the road but i know you can get tongue pulls with very close to the same amount. You get a nice/bigger bedroom area and generally the bathroom is roomier. And really, i dont use my bed much other than hauling wood for the camp fire. I personally wouldnt want a 35ft tongue pull. thats alot of trailer to be swinging around in gas stations and alot on your back hitch but 30 seems fine to me. Between growing up with my parents and going through the stages of camping rigs (cab over camper, tongue pull travel trailer, 35ft 5th wheel, 40ft 5th wheel and now they are on a 45ft coach motor home they use for traveling) i gained alot of experience in what worked well and what were compromises for what we do. if i was a bigger forestry/hunting guy, i would stay with a smaller tongue pull with a front bed room. its easier to get back into the woods with that than a fifth due to height and generally they dont have a big ass end swing.

max weight fully loaded is 13800 so its relatively light imho compared to others ive looked at. pin weight is 2400 after looking at the weight. With the tracker loaded in it, ill be every bit of that 13800.

Nope! 8 lug axles at 7k each. they account for the full loaded weight on the two axles only, not including the pin weight taking some off of the axles and their actual trailer weight matches the door sticker unlike weekend worrier where they like to fudge the numbers and say its 13k when its actually 15k or more.

The frame is built extremely well from other mfg ive seen. they do the same aluminum supports, no kinks in the plumbing like ive seen some places do for the shitter, and the walls are not hollow. My buddy goes "watch this", he takes his fist, rears back and punches the wall like hes gunna knock a guy out and nothing happened to the wall (he knuckles got pretty f'ed up though :roflmao:). not something id try but definitely built better than the walls i have in my Keystone trailer right now lol.

Yup! picked her up last night and made the drive home. little over a foot of clearance between the bed side and the trailer bottom



man does it pull nice. there was a decent cross wind coming home and i didnt even know it was back there. the tongue pull would have been moving around back there in the same situation. I need to decide what i want to do on the back suspension though. with the stock leaves and deaver mini pack (no overload), im on the verge of negative arch on the springs. I know each bump was putting the leaves into negative (good way to trash stock leaves). So looks like the mini pack will get pulled, the overload put back in and ill add bags if necessary.

Why not just put bags on it how it is and leave everything else?

the deavers didnt improve the ride to my liking (the ride was improved, just not to forum hype imho), they move the axle back 1/2" which puts my tire in to the back of the stock fender, and at no point would i use the deavers to their full advantage. Im beyond the load capacity of them and i dont want to damage them should an air bag fail on me or a line leak.

Airbags with internal bump stops. Or a set of sleeved bags.

Yeah looks like it's squatting a bit. Some Firestone Airbags will do just fine if putting the overload springs back in isn't enough.

Personally, a 3 link setup and 16" bags is my preferred way lol.

You figured out how many inch bags would work for us? I figured 18b might be good to give us extra droop if needed. My bump stop mount on the axle to frame measures 12". Is yours the same?

I'll be measuring Sunday when I swap blocks and overloads. I was just thinking about the setup and shocks will wind up being the limiter. I may pull all the leafs but the main and cycle the suspension to see the min/max the 12" stroke shocks I have now give me.

Awesome setup, I was looking into them right before I found my 5500 toter home.


A class c motor home (Dmax version) will probably be my next setup but that's a long ways out. I've prewarned the wife the trans will come out of it as soon as we get one to go to mikes and then throw a decent tune at it lol
