Wow. That is ridiculous. How did they figure 90mph?
Any other pictures of the truck? Looks like a half ton? Was it directly head on? Looks kinda offset to the passenger side. I would say a front seat passenger would have not made it.
Sometimes its hard to tell which damage is from the accident and which damage is from EMS cutting the vehicle open. I wonder what it looked like on scene?
Honestly, I would say luck was on his side. When you're in an impact as severe as this, vehicle dynamics and crash engineering can only do so much, then physics takes over...
This is one of those accidents where maybe hitting the tree a couple inches to the left or right, or at a slightly different angle could be the difference between life and death. Like I said, an incredibly lucky guy. But obviously still quite a bit of GM's safety/restraints engineers' work going into play here.
I would be interested to see the crash data as pulled from the airbag module.
