Your only halfway decent almost sort of band aid is to buy a full transgo kit and putting it in and replacing any burnt clutches while you're in there. You're probably looking at around $500 for some clutches and the transgo kit.

looking into this. any idea what im looking at for labor? and does anyone know of a reputable tranny shop in the SW Florida area.

the Transgo claims it "handles 500 street horsepower" does that mean its good for 500 at the wheels? after i do the transgo can i run the 225 tune

You will have to check with a local shop but to do the full transgo kit labor is going to be around 1k depending on the shop could be more . I would def throw some clutches and converter in it while your that far in , you will have to pay labor all over again later if the transgo isnt enough and would cost more than doing it right the first time .

If you aren't capable of doing the work yourself, you would be money ahead to just get a fully built trans done. SunCoast is in Ft. Walton Beach, FL. Don't know exactly how far SW you are, but it may be an option. Otherwise, you could get one of their stage 3 kits and see if they can recommend someone local to you for installation.
