I have an 01 lb7 with the big 3 right now im running the PPE 160 tune. Ive been looking for a budget friendly option for my truck till i can afford a suncoast. im trying to keep from pulling the tranny is their any thing worth a damn? I found this bully dog shift enhancer it claims your tranny will be able hold an extra 50 hp. found it online for like $100. any body use it or heard of it before

don't bother with the bully dog. if you really need to save your trans to save money then turn down the power.

bite the bullet and start saving for trans parts. you will thank yourself later :)

transgo jr is valve body only. (for 6 speeds only) 5 speeds need the full transgo

:yup:

The transgo Jr will work in a 5 speed, but it's REALLY not worth doing on it's own. In order to make any real difference, the 5sp needs at least a full transgo. In addition to that, depending on how many miles, the trans may be able to use a full refresh. Best bet is to just start squirrelling away the pennies for a full trans build.

Your '01 has a few serious defects in the pump that need to be addressed. Your C1 and C2 clutches only bite 50% at best. Your pressure is too low and when your converter locks it drops 100psi. You have damaged your clutches already and there is no help short of pulling the trans and doing it right.
What else do you want to know?:D

can i get a year and half out of it ive been trying to be pretty kind. would the bully dog be a band aid? its never limped (knock on wood) and it was only over heated once when i was pulling my brothers dmax out of the woods. tranny has less than 80000 gm rebuilt it under warranty of the previous owner. the original owner was in a fight with his wife and the psycho tried to kick him and kicked it into reverse doing 50. gm covered everything

putting the stock tune back in is going to be your best bet to make it last another year.

The bully dog shift kit wont even be a band aid. It wont hurt anything but its not worth the time and money. I bought it and it is now sitting in a box lost in my garage. After I installed it the shifts did feel a little different but replacing 2 valves and springs wont make it hold. The trans still limped and wound up fried running a tune that didnt need a lift pump. I was running best guess 400-425 and the bully dog didn't do anything to save the trans. The kit basically isn't designed to make the trans hold more but at best shift a little better. Your best bet is to turn the power down a touch and start saving to build it right or you'll wind up with a big expensive pile of steel in your driveway. You'll have alot more fun once its built and you wont regret spending the money on a properly built trans.

Mike L. is right those early trucks like to burn up C1s ask Bonescarolfi^^^. My 01 was toasted and his 02 was the same. The 160 tune is pushing it.

The bullydog shift kit is GARBAGE plain and simple. The valves they use in the kit simply leak main line pressure into the servos, but do nothing to keep the TCM from seeing this. It soon learns this modification out, and you are right back to where you were when you started. My sugestion is back down the power to keep the trans you have alive and start scrounging the change from your couch cushions untill you can afford a full build.
