Opinions/pics-- Your 5" exhaust systems

Have to pull the trigger on new exhaust this week, probably a 5" no muffler. I've been searching the forum but couldn't find any newer threads about systems, or fitment and quality issues. How do you guys like your kits? How about some pictures of your exit angles?! :woott:

I put magnaflow #18982 on, because it was the cheapest and it exited at a 90 degree angle. However when I put it together some of the hangars were off by bit including the tailpipe section. Instead of being uptight to the body, it hung down quite a bit and looked awful. I finally took it off and ran an axle dump, much better sound and look. I cut the tailpipe up today and I'm now running a side exit.

I've installed bully dog, MBRP, AFE, and Magnaflow. The 5" no muffler #18982 has been the best so far hands down.
All the hangers and angles were almost perfect for my CCLB dually. The side exit is a little more than 90 degrees but not much. It also doesn't hit my tire like the other one did.

I've very happy with it and would suggest/install it again.
I'll post a few pictures tomorrow where mine exits and how it looks.

Mbrp sounds good but the hangers needed to be bent around quite a bit for me to get everything hanging ok. I still can't get it to hang level though and the. Clamps are a joke...anything with those u shape clamps is a waste imo. If I change I'll go either magnaflow or flopro as I've heard fit and finish is great on both

"DmaxRamRod" did you cut the pipe in the locations listed in the instructions for the ecsb? I also have an ecsb so that makes me kind of worried.

I've also heard that magnaflow is one of only a few kits that is true 5" from the downpipe back. Is there any truth to that?

I put a magnaflow 5" on Friday. It didn't fit as good as my mbrp system did. It was beat up some but I really like the exit angle of it

My afe kit is 5" from the down pipe flange back. Really nice kit with good clamps. I hate mbrps cheesy exhaust clamps. I've hit my head on to many of them.

My afe is a 90 degree exit too. I'll grab a couple pics when I get stopped. I didn't have a tip on it for the first few months but felt like the truck needed some more shiney so I did a tip. If it wasn't for my wheels I wouldn't have ran a tip.

5" Magnaflow. Nice setup, better clamps than MBRP, I'll never use their crap ubolt setup again.

Like any exhaust, takes some wiggling to get it set. I used a weld on tip so you can fudge the angle a little.

I agree, the magnaflow I put on only took a few minutes compared to MBRP crap fitting setup. The magnaflow clamps areindeed way better. Magnaflow is damn cheap in price too.

I cut the pipes according to the install sheet, however the mid pipe assembly hangar was way off. I was able to heat it and bend it close to get it to fit. I also had to remove the rubber isolater from the front pipe because it was holding it against the trans cooler lines.

Magnaflows front pipe goes from 3" to 4" to 5" right after the bend, you can see it on the install sheet.

These are the two ways I run my exhaust now, muffler over the axle dump and side exit straight pipe.

FWIW I never cut the length to the instructions. Get the tail section and front section hanging where they NEED to be, then cut. Mine are always a couple inches longer.

Thanks for the input guys :thumb: Sounds like Magnaflow or Flopro is the way to go.

Are you able to axle dump the flopro like you can with the magnaflow? Is the price difference for a stainless kit worth it?

I have MBRP and i ended up welding another hanger on the trans cross member due to it hanging so low. If i did it again i would go with flo pro. Spend some money on clamps too, i ovaled my pipes w/ those stupid U clamps.

Flo Pro systems come with those clamps….best exhaust systems on the market IMO. They are also priced competitive/cheaper than others.
