Am I outside of my mind for wanting financial stability before kids??? I have multiple friends that barely scrap by and have a second (planned) kid on the way...WTF? They bounce back from each others parents homes and just kinda take handouts and "get by"

Dude, I love kids, but I wouldn't bring my child into this world if I don't have everything needed to give them a proper upbringing. I see damn people popping kids left and right with out any resources to maintain them, drives me crazzzy!

..... Plus I have yet to find the right miss. Turns out not many of them want to have 6+ kids :D

not at all. want to be financially stable with some put away before I would even think about it. living on the edge like that is no way to run through life. don't plan on it till 31+. Practicing is okay though ;)

there is a family I know that has 11 kids, countless miscarriages, all homeschooled. the second to oldest still doesn't know how to read. oldest just "graduate" high school. needless to say she lives at home and takes care of the rest of them. all of this on 1 firefighter's salary. it makes me physically sick to think about. oh and the best part. she's pregnant again

Anyone ever seen the movie Idiocracy?
%100 agree with you. Children should be brought into the most stable life possible. The level at which that's possible is seldom of our own choosing though.

While you are never fully prepared for kids, there is nothing wrong with planning and thinking it through. I was 31 before I had my first one. It does upset me that some folks keep popping out kids when they cannot adequately support them.

LOL I should give you my semi x GF's number... she feels her meaning in life is to be a mom of LOT's of kids. I always ask how can you make sure they are provided for? she always gives the same answer "they just will be" sounds really intelligent huh?

Crumb snatchers...F**k trophies.... Not much a fan but I may have one some day but I am almost 30 so we will see. Honestly both me and my fiancee just want one so we have someone to take care of us when we are old and someone to will all of our shit to when we die. :D
It always drives me nuts seeing friends that I grew up with have a kid and barely scrape by, commute to work, cut back on spending, cancel services, and then straight up "plan" a second child. WFT moment.

Its not her fault, woman want to have kids before its too late and to her waiting another day may feel too late and there is nothing wrong with that. BUT you do need financial stability and a good solid home with two parents around to raise a child. It has bin done with less, but it is not enough for the child. I'm sure many will disagree and agree with this:)

I'm 27. Have 2 kids. My oldest is 2.5. My youngest is goin to be 1 jan 5. Both were planned. And I'm stable. Could always use more money but not living paycheck to paycheck. Kids come first for sure. Love them and wouldn't change a thing if I did it over again. I would like more but wife says no. But I do have a friend that is on disability and decided to have a kid. Not even with the girl! Borrows cars from parents. Now that's dumb! His Poor kid. All I wanna say to him is WTF were u thinking!

I agree. be as ready as possible, but you'll never be 100% READY for kids. The wife had our twins when we were 26 (trying), well not really. Got pregnant the first month

Just know this. It ain't cheap. Sitter's, Diapers, education, when they're old enough.

But, I would not change 1 thing about it:happy2:

I am 21 and have a set of twins they will be 1 on Saturday when my fiancé got pregnant we were not 100% finacialy stable the job I had paid good but not enough, I got lucky and found a great paying job before they were born and started pocketing money, I gave all of it to my dad and he built me a appartment above his 4 car garage, now we just signed a contract on a brand new house, I wish I was more secure before all of that happens but I did what I had to get by, I wouldn't have it any other way

If you wait till you can afford kids you will probably never have any. We started young, broke and scared now we are old broke and have 3 wonderful boys 21, 17, and 11. I would go through hell, poverty and anything else for my kids. Alot of our kids friends parents waited, now they are 10 to 30 years older then me and my wife, can't make all the games or get too cold to sit through a football game. Sure its damn expensive to raise them, sometimes more then we have but in the end, the joy they bring is worth every headache, heartache and problems we have been through. Sure, I wish I made more money but my kids actually realize money does not buy happiness and I think it will make them better parents to know even though they were really spoiled within limits of my income, material possesions mean nothing in the end. Its the love and happiness you spread inside your home, to your kids that really matters.

I was about to say something along these lines. I'm 30, My son turned 1 on the 13th of november. Stability doesn't mean all that much cause you're either gonna be a good parent or a shitty one regardless of financial standing. I know people loaded with cash out their ears who don't take care of their kids and I know people who are flat broke and are the most caring parents and make the happiest family you could ever see. I don't always agree with money doesn't buy happiness but in the case of kids,, money or not they little ****ers will make you day worth waking up for. I wanted kids but when we started trying i was still unsure if i was ready,, now i wish i had started sooner and am already wanting more.
A strong support system of family and friends while pregnant and right after the kid is born is the biggest help.

This is something we didn't have. You will basically find out who your true friends and family are when you have kids, especially at an early age. We have been together since I was 17 and she was 15. first kid I just turned 21. Thank god for layaway! no help, no babysitter, family was pissed but we buckled down, and by god we made it. No its not easy, but I promise if your unselfish, and give all you have your kids will return it ten fold. Now once they reach 18-21-thats a different thread all together:thumb:
