I know Matt (sometimes he goes by Mott, or 'denmah' on the forums) personally.
He and his crew of "Sloppy Mechanics" are an awesome bunch of guys. Its hilarious how they purposely try to see just how hack they can make stuff....while still making crazy amounts of power for the smallest amount of money possible.
Heres how they tighten head bolts.

They literally reuse head gaskets, head bolts, bearings, etc. Just because....its hilarious, and when you can pick up a whole new engine for 100 bucks, why not!!
On one of his 4.8 (truck engine) builds he even had mis-matched heads on the engine, because he bought the motor with a dropped valve...so he stuffed in a used piston (used bearings, used rings, etc) in it...and the only extra head he had laying around was an LS1 vette head. So he threw that on there. That motor did well over 550rwhp and ran well into the 10's and lasted many many passes. Used pistons, used head gaskets, and a truck-5.3 head on one side and an LS1 head on the other side!!!
(EDIT: I posted this before I read the article...apparently he did mention the 'mis-matched head' motor.
)
His car now has a 4L80 in it, in the article he still had the TH400
Once again reaffirms the fact that the LS-small blocks are pretty much the most amazing engines in the world. Old school chevy small blocks, and old school chevy big blocks dont have crap over the 99+ LS engines, seriously. The old chevy small blocks, I consider boat anchors, when put next to an LS. The LS engines are literally bulletproof, they last forever, they can withstand absurd amounts of horsepower on all stock internals....and did I forget mention that you can buy a complete 4.8/5.3/6.0 with harness and ECM.....for the cost of duramax head studs???????
Its a no brainer hot-rod engine swap. Just based on price alone.
A $200 junkyard beat up 5.3, factory vette ZR1 cam ($97 from GM), and a crap ebay turbo will easily do 550rwhp. And completely stock, it will hold together at that power level. Try doing that with a duramax....
