Id love to do some older chevy trucks!

I have an 81 SB Chevy out back that I'd like to do something similar with. Could be a really fun drag truck. I need to find a wrecked diesel van for a donor.

True sleeper for making money ... one of the 80's Olds that came with a 5.7L diesel. Put in a Dmax and make sure and tell everyone that yes, it's a diesel. Don't pop the hood, and start setting up races :)

97 Chevy crew cab short box with an LBZ/Allison or a 5.9/6.7 CR and an Allison is my next project. Dyno queen. That one will be a year or two out yet, to much on the table right now.

humm just thinking out side the box but wonder if someone could fit a Dmax in a Smart twofour? They seem to put just about anything in the smart now days.

Man if I ever win the 649 I will only own Dmax powered toys lol :D

Some of the things on the pipe dream list:

1) CREW CAB SB 72 Chevy on a dmax chassis.
2) 72 Chevy Short step bed on a lowered 4wd DMax chassis and parallel twins. Set up as a "sport touring" ride
3) then either a corvette (newer than mid 90s) or 69 Camaro z28 or ZL1 clone with a DMax and parallel twins. :D Yes, I'm addicted to how those things sound. Think their rumble would be rather fitting on an old school vehicle repower.

and last but not least...

4) Get one of the test 4.5L, convert to mechanical injection, throw a set of twins (series, not parallel) on it and put it in a late 70s Jeep Scrambler. Definitely a manual tranny, Atlas xcase, 1-ton running gear and hugger orange.



Yeah, the dream list is a long and lofty one. :angel:

I've got this 1950 chevy i'd like to make my tow rig. Maybe shorten or swap frames with a newer truck. Or put a 15' flatbed on it to load the other truck on top.


Buddy did close to what you want to do but used a older Mack and used a 4500 frame and motor cool raising ea hood from the side and seeing the Dmax

You might also need the harness and the controller box also the part #'s are there I have the prices around somewere not that bad new.

at the shop I used to work at. there's a clean '68 comando that was abandoned years ago. Owners kid is getting a title for it and thinking about a swap.

Here's some ideas I've had for a Duramax conversion:

1. Duramax into a '47-'53 Chevy 5 window pickup in place of the typical gas engine that you've seen eleventybillion times already.
2. Duramax into '82-'91 Chevy K5 Blazer in place of the 6.2L/700R4.
3. Duramax into Chevy Avalanche 2500 in place of the 8.1L Vortec/4L85E.
4. Duramax into '82-'91 Chevy crewcab longbed SRW K30/V3500 in place of the 6.2L/TH400 or whatever the truck came with.

Something different

I keep coming back to these DMax websites! I have a 1976 FMC motor home that has a perfectly good running Chrysler 440 with Edelbrock MPI fuel injection.

But I also have a LBZ on an engine stand in the garage. Would need an Allison 6 spd and everything else. I don't have any donor vehicle. Should I sell the engine I have and get a donor vehicle or just assemble parts as I would only want to do the necessary things. It is a rear engined coach and the stock rear end and wheels would give me 1800 rpm at 65mph.

Your thoughts?
