I'm with Jason. To me the heat marks on the failed area just look like heat from friction after it cracked, it's fairly local

If I break out a torch for a stubborn bolts it's not for 20sec, more like 2min :eek:

If it was friction, why doesn’t any part of the center section show the same thing? Its clearly seen far more friction

All I know is I see two distinct spots where there are signs of the flex plate being heated, and I don't see how either could be the result of the cracks. I'm not a metallurgist or failure inspector, but I would think the heating would follow the crack (meaning the crack would be centered on the heat mark and the heat area wouldn't deviate away from the crack) and be seen in more than two locations. I'm not trying to place blame or anything, but if this is the result of heating, it might serve as a warning to not use heat to aid the removal of flywheel bolts.
