is it possible to take off the oil cooler assembly and the hard tube from the water pump off and run some sort of remote mount filter and cooler?

Deleting the stock oil cooler concerns me. Maybe we also need some tests for getting the oil temp up to operating temp with and without the stock cooler (time frame and at what outside temp). I would tend to think it would help increase the temp of the oil when it's cold more quickly than without it. I am however all for external coolers on these anytime the power is increased and/or a larger or mutiple turbos are added knowing what I've seen on my oil temp gauge. After all 90% of the oils job IS cooling. Also, when the oil does break down, is starts a accelerated wear cycle in the motor. I know it is important for it to get to a temp to boil off water (condensation from heating and cooling) but needs to be kept below the dreaded break down temps too. I set my T stat in my oil cooler to start to open at 190 and full open at around 210. You want to keep you full flow filter where it's at because when you remote mount it, unless your running 12AN (3/4") hose you can create a restriction through the fittings them selves because this is where every thing is choked down to. Just run a side stream oil filter assembly that filters down to at least 2 mic (99% a pass). The big stuff the full flow oil filter catches usually cant get between the bearing or cylinder walls to cause much harm anyway. It's the stuff between 25-2mic that cause the serious wear problems. It gets between EVERYTHING in there to cause wear.

you can get a oil cooler delete the bolts on over the 2 holes for the oil in/out It will allow you to attach -12 JIC ( A/N ) fittings. PPE sells them FWIW
The water from the pump will still have to go back into the rear cover
thats what the tube is for however its only held in there by the oil cooler
you would have to do some custom thing there OR switch to a electric water pump
the stock oil cooler is pretty good though and also help heat the oil on cold start ups
the one with out the cooler.
thank you for the help i will definatly look at those and this is not on my dd it will be on a race truck only i just need to delete it for clearance issues
