This place is good tech and info without all the fluff in between. I don't mind DF because it's a mix of some tech and some bs... TDP is on the other end of the spectrum with just the bs

(sorry this is going to sound really cocky, I dont mean it like that, I just get frustrated with them) Not like Ive never done anything to help Diesel Place or anything; I wonder how many dozens of pages there are of stuff ive written in the "DIY" section? Not to mention the fact that I once drove an hour with my Tech 2 just to help one of the current dp-mods diagnose an IP problem on his 6.5. But hey, im just a useless asshole right.

Sometimes you do come off that way.... but you know what- you have the knowledge, experiance and skills to back yourself up. That makes all the difference :thumb:

Nope. I cant remember how many accounts I have there now. Havent been there in a long time. People find me elsewhere for LED and HID questions. Plus I got a life and dont need that place like some do. They got 2 or 3 good mods. Josh, Johnny, and Chris. I like Tony too but never talk to him since I was banned.

That pretty much sums it up for me. There was a time years ago when I was glued to the forum every night, even on the weekends...but then I actually started having fun and didnt need the forum for entertainment. I went from reading/writing all about trucks to wearing togas made out of cartoon-truck sheets. (yes, I was always that guy who wore the most ridiculous form of everything, why blend in with a boring white sheet) :joker:

Nick should not sold the site. He should have put an enthusiast in charge, and kicked back and let the money roll in.

It is like if George Washington sold the USA because he was the first President. An enthusiast site does not exist because of the owner. It exists because of the enthusiasts. Nick never really put much content on his site, and even had to inflate his post count so he wouldn't look bad.

How is that different than any business in the world? Would Walmart be in business today without their employees? Of coarse not! Do the employees have a say who, when, where, why the owners sold? Again, of coarse not.

It was Nicks business period. He didn't like the forum that was available at the time, so he went out and started his own. Everybody has the opportunity to quit what their doing and start their own kind of like what you guys did here, so why bitch about it?

Walmart wasn't started by donations from members, nor staffed by unpaid labor. Their shelves aren't full of donated items.

Not really a good analogy.

It is a lot different than all other businesses.

I'm not applying for sainthood by the way. I hate filing out forms. :lildevil: I'm a prick a lot of times, and I'm good with that. I do have limits however. My friendship is neither for sale, nor would I sell the friendship of others. That is the mortar that an enthusiast site is built with, and the glue that holds it together.

You still have no clue as to what happened or why it became so successfull.
Nick was in it for the money and he had no employees.
No one is bitching .
Do you ever have anything nice to say? You sound like a typical union employee.

CompD has a lot of racers, and fast ones too, the only reason the ave et over there might be slower is the shear number of members. It is dominated mostly by cummins guys and lots of 12 valves. Many are in love with 1/8 racing. I love to pick on them, it's like walking by a car with a pissed off dog inside barking it's head off. If you slap the window acouple of times they get so upset I've seen them start to rip the crap out of the interior. I can get the cummins guys especially the sled pullers going like that over there. Lots of fun but always make sure the windows are up. :thumb:

Now that is funny.

Wtf does that have to do with anything? It sounds like a typical ignorant comment to me.

Dmaxlover as Mike says is way off. As one of the founding fathers the site was started because the only other site was the Page and he was pissed about not being able to sell his filter set up with out spending a big chunk of advertisement dollars. Plus being a IT guy he had the way and means to start a site.

Nick didn't contribute much of Tech but the rest of us did. Granted it was his site and he could have sold it if he wanted as a business but it was the MEMBERS that made it successful NOT HIM. So selling it to Autoforums was bullshit! He did unfortunately get a good chunk of change for OUR contribution not his.

BUT .....................

That being said, TDP will continue on for many years to come. This site will never be as large (or sold) because it is more specialized than TDP; it's aimed at the lunatic fringe of Dmax owners. We might have the quickest average ET of any truck forum.

Here is what happened. Why it was sold in a nutshell

Everything was great until the site grew and it was going to take a investment in servers as the site grew. In addition unfortunately none of us current Admins or Mods could help Nick with running the site on the geek side.

How much work was involved I don't know perhaps one of you guys can explain. That's when Chad got involved and in my opinion things went down hill. Many of you might not know but Chad ran another forum , I forgot what it was but it wasn't truck and or auto related. He ran that one into the ground also!

I believe Nick lost some interest in running the forum do to him losing his job and going out on his own (starting his own business) as a IT guy. Then Baby-Boy was kicked to the curb by mommy and he had to go out and get a real job. The cash cow (mommy) was done!

So in secrecy I'm sure Chad persuaded Nick like a sneaky little rat NOT to go public and sell it to the highest bidder a third party instead of going public and offering it up to the real enthusiast that made that site successful!

IMO it was Baby-Boy who was in it for the money not so much Nick. I believe that from the beginning when Chad was bought on board.

IMO it should have gone public that the site needed to be sold do to personal reasons and then sold TO US . Not sold out the way it was as all the timeless hours that were put in for FREE IMO was stolen away and sold to Autoforums which has ruined what was to be honest with you the best source of Duramax information on the web.

Because it was ours and we made it successful not Nick and certainly not Baby-boy,the fag!
