Since this is the general non-sense area I thought I'd comment of what a shame the site is. Now I don't frequent that place since the transition but today since I'm bored I went over and viewed some posts.

I've seen a few of you mention the down hill slippery slide on tech which some of you have commented about. Not really caring I didn't pay much attention to it until today and Oh My Lord it's HORRIBLE from what I read today. It so reminds me of all of the other run of the mill sights owned and operated by that conglomerate Auto Forums.

I really can't believe it ,it's so sad really. My only assumptions is the members really do make the difference and when all the "Oldies" left and or don't bother with it anymore it really does tank and tank fast even although there is a plethora of information right there.

They might as well continue to flood it up with tampon and Geico adds.

Does anyone hear from Baby-Boy (sp33d) Chad anymore? I know Nick still hangs around there peddling his filters. Since Chad's mommy made him go out and get a real job (sold her business) last I knew he got out of the Duramax biz and fell off the earth. Good riddance the loser

I keep the quick 50 list over there and frequent the NW thread but that is about it. I think most anyone who has been at this a while usually knows who to go to with an email or pm to get the info they need. I haven't seen or heard from Chad in a long time. Did see Nick earlier (late August) at Woodburn, he is pretty involved with his TDI and currently has his truck at Nathan's in Boise getting a killer set of big twins and an air/water intercooler installed. Very cool setup.

I know I get tired of getting asked so many PM's sometimes over there. I don't even know the DMAX all that well yet, and I still get a couple a week from people who can't get any actual answers from posting in there threads.

Nick should not sold the site. He should have put an enthusiast in charge, and kicked back and let the money roll in.

It is like if George Washington sold the USA because he was the first President. An enthusiast site does not exist because of the owner. It exists because of the enthusiasts. Nick never really put much content on his site, and even had to inflate his post count so he wouldn't look bad.

That being said, TDP will continue on for many years to come. This site will never be as large (or sold) because it is more specialized than TDP; it's aimed at the lunatic fringe of Dmax owners. We might have the quickest average ET of any truck forum.

Pat, just out of curiosity, does the info on this site become opened to the world without being a registered member? I know some sites I am part of you have to be a member with x number of posts to see certain stuff. Just wondering how this site is. To lazy to log out and check:)

I think we probably do have the quickest average ET (no thanks to me, lol). It is crazy how fast most the people's trucks are. Do I still qualify as a lunatic even if my truck is slow? I'd like to think I do... just a different kind of lunatic

And yeah, The Diesel Place is going downhill fast. I used to login once a week, now it's more like once a month, if that. And when I do, absolutely nothing interesting has happened (well, except bench racing, that's always a fun read)

Kat, Rob, and I first started this site as a customer support site for McRat Racing. There remains an area that is restricted to McRat customers that contains tuning files. However, it is no longer active, and hasn't been for years now.

I don't actively tune anymore so it just faded away.

All web forums have private areas. We also have an Administrator area, a Moderator area, and a Sponsor Area (for settling disputes and making announcements). None of these private areas are very busy though. You can hear crickets chirping in the background. And regardless of what RDL thinks, Jimmy Hoffa's body isn't in a private area on DuramaxDiesels.

But there is a Grassy Knoll in there! SHHHH!!!!

I remember many times Nick being asked to set up a 1/4 mi timeslip area (like most performance boards have), but they wouldn't do it.

You do have to be logged in to see attachments and the stats at the bottom of the main page. Nothing else I can think of off the top of my head.

This site def has the highest concentration of pure performance trucks on the web IMO. I only wish I could fit in here. I read the tech stuff but because Im not actually doing any of it I dont get alot out of it (maybe one day)

There are alot of great personalities here though and it has a more personal feel here. "smoke signals" is great and no other site can compare to that.

No way???? :spit:

I swear youve been banned more times than anyone else and the STILL let you back. Guess someone needs to answer the questions over there....

The funny part is that every time I get banned, when I go back, I find at least 5 or 6 threads of people whining "wheres ben I need the answer to XXXX question, no one else knows the answer to it...HELP!!"

Oh, sorry, you can blame the DP mods for that. And the fact that there are a few people (members) there who hate me, so they literally follow me around waiting for me to get even slightly frustrated/argue with someone, just so they can fire off a "REPORT POST" to the mods.

Of course the mods all hate me too, and because none of them know diddly as far as tech-info about these trucks, the only way they can flex their muscles and "one-up" me is to click the BAN button. Cool. :thumb:

That being said, horsehaulin/tony and Rader/pat are good guys in my opinion; not *ALL* the DP mods are goofballs.

(sorry this is going to sound really cocky, I dont mean it like that, I just get frustrated with them) Not like Ive never done anything to help Diesel Place or anything; I wonder how many dozens of pages there are of stuff ive written in the "DIY" section? Not to mention the fact that I once drove an hour with my Tech 2 just to help one of the current dp-mods diagnose an IP problem on his 6.5. But hey, im just a useless asshole right. :D

CompD has a lot of racers, and fast ones too, the only reason the ave et over there might be slower is the shear number of members. It is dominated mostly by cummins guys and lots of 12 valves. Many are in love with 1/8 racing. I love to pick on them, it's like walking by a car with a pissed off dog inside barking it's head off. If you slap the window acouple of times they get so upset I've seen them start to rip the crap out of the interior. I can get the cummins guys especially the sled pullers going like that over there. Lots of fun but always make sure the windows are up. :thumb:

Haha, I dont vist over there anymore.

I have been "thunderstruck"

I think as soon as I visit (not even log in) the mods all get a PM that I am on the site from my IPs. I went on there one day and created an account to see a pic, and before I could even go back the the thread to find the pic I was looking for, I had 2 PMs asking what I was doing and "Mike, is that you?" :spit:

Then banned within like 10 minutes lmao.

am I the only one in that position? lol

F that place, there is no point. Its like the ghetto of the diesel forums.

Nope. I cant remember how many accounts I have there now. Havent been there in a long time. People find me elsewhere for LED and HID questions. Plus I got a life and dont need that place like some do. They got 2 or 3 good mods. Josh, Johnny, and Chris. I like Tony too but never talk to him since I was banned.
