I would have no issue buying a high mile truck with the goal of building a puller or dragracer since most of the wear items would be changed or replaced anyways. i would however spend the money to make sure the body and frame were clean and solid.

at first glance, when I bought mine I thought the frame wasn't bad....but when I stripped it to paint it I was saying F*** ME!! the entire time....01 and 02 trucks are the worst when it come to frame rust...I'll never spring for one again

The yamacat looks cool but no way it is touching the 14' doos. I wish I didn't buy my sled this year and sprung for a 2014 freeride 137"

I bought my 05 1500 in 08 for 14k 42000 miles. Traded it in in 2011 with 80k for $15k. Used trucks were just dirt cheap for a little while. And no one was buying new because of gas prices. So it's driven the used prices up big time since there aren't as many out there.

We bought our puller with a cracked piston and 217k and prob still paid too much according to most. At least there is not a stitch of rust on body or frame...

In a new HD pickup the duramax/allison option costs like $9300 so what do you think you get for ~10k complete pickup that runs?!

I remember when your truck came up for sale. I wanted it bad. You got a good deal

We got a 02 ecsb loaded with 148k 2yrs ago that was a leaky trans cooler gone bad....for $1750. Ended up needing cab corners, rockers, injectors, brake lines, new cooler and some rtv....bought a new fisher plow for it and now it making money for us for an investment of less than 8k total. Deals are still out there, just gotta get lucky.

Just picked up an 03 EC/SB leather 4x4 for $3500, a couple weeks ago. It had bad injectors with only 15k mi on them since changed (Pensacola). Drove the truck 300mi home, changed the injectors and sold the motor for $3500 :). She's now getting a built LLY for the pull season.
