Started working on the new puller. Got the engine pulled and started tearing it down, spun 2 of the main bearings. Plan is to use the good crank that came with it, get the stock bore block line honed, have it balanced, cut the stock pistons, and run it. I may try and find a different wheel and cover for the turbo too. If I can get that done before pulls start, and get my welder fixed, I may try and get the remote mount turbo setup to work and add a A2W if I can find a deal on one that will work, if not I'll run the turbo in the valley and get a feel for the truck. One think I learned is I could pay for all my parts by charging admission to "help" me work on it. The night I pulled the motor I had 12 people leaning on it watching 2-3 of us work.
where do you plan on pulling and what classes?

Up in the air on that now....One thing I know is I want to have it setup to pull the national events, TS, SDX, etc. but will also set it to pull Mid atlantic. Not much in my backyard to pull, so I'll have to travel to pull. I was going to send you a message to see who you pull with, and what the rules are, so I could travel up that way throughout the season.

myself for this winter i've been trying to track down the stuff to do a zf-6 swap in the puller but everytime i find a trans and pedals i'm a day late or its half across the country and shipping is rediculous! other than that i'm going a/w changing gears and would like to go back to sts's if i can get the duratracs sold

What gears are you going with assuming your running 4.56 now? Yes, Thats Ed's ol truck.

i'm hoping its enough of a difference? i dont know if its going to be noticeable i could go to 4:10's but when i go south to the real power tracks i dont know if the truck will like it. i'm hoping the 4:56 is better on the loose tracks around home and they're still low enough of a gear to work on the tacky tracks south?

You got that right!

Id have to 3rd that. I miss pulling a lot, but then i realize i get home earlier and have more money.

Okay both of those are lies, I just find new ways to waste time and money. I guess the pulling disease transfers to any hobby.

For me it was more about working on them. Mine has sat parked for over 2 years and all my time is filled up making money on other peoples trucks. Worked out well in the end.

The best part of pulling is the adrenaline rush of making it there and the friends you pickup along the way.

Ill get back into it someday though. Plan on pulling the old KW in some street semi pulls when the day comes haha.

My puller sits as a frame and body in the old shop still. If anybody is interested in it to use for building a puller before they go and strip their truck down let me know.

My other truck still looks the same as it did in april when i drove it out of jim's shop. Been a busy summer. Might have to return to you though jim as it got a boo boo being parked all summer.

Hate to see it go, but I dont blame you for a second. I will say that life is stress free in the retired pullers club:D

Yeah I don't miss it yet but it's also not summer. :(

I can't say I'm never getting back in it but just not now. My kids are too important and the classes need to settle in.

Good luck Kevin. I hope the truck works out for you. Just don't put that damn turbo in the valley. :D

i couldn't tell you off hand just know he's a bean farmer has a green crew cab dually dmax puller with a hoodstack
I really liked my 4.56 gears. Hooked better and had way more ground speed. I had to use a unlock switch sometimes do to being a 2.5 charger.

Is it considered off season if you have not made a season? I'll stay out of this one....four years in so far....

Is that a inline 6 duramax? Tell me its not a cummins.

idk if thats a good idea now after getting the gear calculator to finally work on my computer...its only a 2mph difference at 4K

Thats why i went with 4.56 gears. 4.88's weren't a big enough difference.
