Wasn't there a case last year that some kids got prosecuted for bullying a girl after she killed herself too!

Could have been I don't doubt it. It's different today then it was when I was in school.

I think the most of it is because of the Internet explosion. Back when I went to school there was no Internet like today with all of these interactive sites, like this one.

A lot of kids and some adults today live on the Internet. IMO the sites like Myspace,Facebook and the likes are ruining kids minds and proper socializing technique and it doesn't end at the school yard or backyard. It carries on on the Internet and kids get real worked up that leads to these tragic story and events like suicide.

Kids (people) will say things on the Internet that they wont say face to face and some are VERY cruel.

My three kids are in the same age bracket and what they tell me that happens in school is unreal. Some kids are really cruel and when the bully's parents are confronted, they're ten times worse. Especially the mothers. No concept of reality.

I've always told my kids not to start any fights, but if they're in one, they better finish it...

And like previously posted, the school staff could care less....

Not too long ago, a teenage girl killed herself after being harrassed on the internet.

A boy her age had befriended her on the internet, and struck up a love-affair on the web (not in person).

Then the boy turned on her, and humiliated her in the worst possible ways. Then "others" jumped in and started humiliating her further. So she hung herself in her closet doorway, IIRC.

Later it was determined that the "boy" and the "others" never existed. The parents of one of her female classmates staged the whole thing to persecute her for a minor disagreement she had with their daughter concerning a boy at school. It's headed for trial I think.

EDIT - DOH!! This story is really old. Search Megan Meier, circa 2007.
