So if I am at a stop, I can get the tow/haul to activate, sometimes. Maybe I am suppose to be at a stop for this. Regardless, it does not always, actually rarely engages.

Forget about OD. no matter what I try, it simply does not work.

Thanks in advance

Orange wire? Ok, I see it and followed it. Nothing seems to be wrong with it, but I will take another look.

Thanks guys.

Seems like this is going to help a few others also:hug:

Look closely, Mine didn't look like nothing was wrong but it was right by one of the holders that hold it to the steering column.

It looks to be pretty loose inside the shifter. There is a torx T-30 holding the shifter on the column. If I take it off can I get into the shifter?

I will keep looking at other possibilities. Also, just to be sure, the orange wire run in the big cluster of wires and plugs into the back of the fuses on the side?

Yup def loose inside the shifter. I wiggled and played and it is working. However, i still have the rubber boot to pull back over it and put everything together. So I am still wondering if I can pull the shifter by loosening the torx bolt or should I just use a little e-tape to secure it?

I am getting there thanks to all the help on here. Thanks fellas

You will need to buy a new shifter handle. It is plug and play. That wire break is common.

Actually found a cut wire that was the issue. Right under a clip on the column as stated before. I did my first solder job and fixed her up.

Bits of advice for those that are going to do this. First, I love how easy everything on this rig is to take apart. However, there are a lot of plastic nubs that can (in my case will) break.

It likely would have been smoother if I removed the cluster to get at the top of the steering housing. I chose to just turn the wheel to get out the little lip from under the steering wheel. I may have broken a nub or two because when I put it back together, it did not clicp totally. Not even noticeable, but I know it is there and it bugs me. If I don't forget about it in a couple of weeks, I will go back and do it proper.

Mine was severed under the first (closest to driver) holding clip. The copper is very delicate in these wires so be gentle. Also, due to me ripping a little too much wire off in trying to get it right, my wires were no longer able to run through that clip. Be careful here as if the wire is in such a place, it can get caught up in the shifter when shifting causing it to pull and yank apart your fixed wires. I went through the gears a bunch and mine sits perfectly.

Anywho, I should have taken some pics, but I am sure this is super simple for the majority of you. I am no expert and it was pretty easy. Hardest part was getting the top cover of the steering wheel back on and to fit neatly. As I said, if you remove the cluster this should not be an issue.

Thanks for all the help guys

I recommend you use a zip tie to loosely hold the wire up close to the same spot as that clip did. That way it doesnt get cut in the mechanism, but is loose enough not to break again.
