Whose network do they run on?
Currently TracFone using T-Mobile's network. But TracFone was bought out by Verizon and Verizon is discontinuing some of the 4G bands in favor of 5G.

US Mobile can use any network, T-Mobile, ATT and Verizon. So my current phone can work with them without doing anything but getting a new sim card. But I'm not opposed to using the Verizon network as they have better coverage in my area. I just won't get their service directly through them as it's a minimum 5x the cost

I keep my phones forever too. Is that a UAG cover? It’s what I use. I’m still working on an iPhone x. Wifie says I need to upgrade.

TracFone is now only Verizon coming November. They used to run on all three

US Mobile is still independent so runs on any of the three depending on your phone compatibility. Nice feature is they allow on the fly switching between the three for minimal charge in case you are traveling or vacationing in a location where your current network doesn't have good coverage. Two free switches per month and $2 for each additional switch

My new phone can technically run on any. But it is a Verizon branded phone (supposedly unlocked) but other networks may not accept it. So Verizon is the best bet. I checked with Verizon's compatibility checker and it said it was good. TracFone did too. But my current old phone failed. I have a choice of staying with TracFone and using my new phone. Or switching to US Mobile and using either new or old phone. But at this point, may as well us the new one as it's double the capacity, memory, speed , etc. just need to finish cloning it, copying contacts, texts, photos and everything else

Many years ago, I had Verizon, and they screwed me big time. Said f them and went to Nextel, who then became sprint. Was overall happy with them, until a few years ago I was like 'im paying way too much for this '. Switched to Mint mobile, which uses the T-Mobile/sprint network, and really no complaints. I think I'm paying like $400 a YEAR, where I was paying over $200 a MONTH with sprint for two lines.

I remember when my employer was using sprint and was having terrible coverage and service. The price was great but if you can't get ahold of anyone on the job site then what's the point. We then switched to Verizon. Cost was probably double or more but everyone was reachable. I guess they figure they can justify the cost for the coverage they have. But T-Mobile and AT&T are right there with them now and sometimes have much better rates.

This is why I stick with the 3rd party providers. They have so much better plans for a fraction of the cost. I've been paying $150 a year for my plan for the last 5+ years. If I go with US Mobile and pay for the yearly option it only $96 for a better plan. Last time I checked with Verizon, they wanted $600 a year for their cheapest plan

I'm on a Verizon work phone and it blows hard. I am constantly losing signal and going into SOS mode even in DFW. I have thought about getting off of their plan and just having them pay me $60 or whatever to be on my own plan but it is nice to be able to use infinite data and hotspotting.

@darkness I think you have a couple years before you need to upgrade. I always recommend staying on a phone that is getting the latest software updates.

My personal Phone is on T mobile and I have been happy after switching from Sprint when they started screwing existing customers and bending over backwards to get New customers. customer service seems much better than previous carriers.

Have Verizon for work, I strongly Dislike the I-Phone.... actual coverage seems to be Ok. I don't deal with the plan stuff but in the past the customer service sucked.

Sometimes I don't have coverage with one but I have full coverage with the other.

The Hot spot seems faster on the I-Phone. But I don't know what plan we have. It's always lagged a bit on the T-mobile and was the same with Sprint.

A few months ago I got put in a walking boot for 6 weeks on my left foot for a stress fracture in my foot, accessory bone and one of my toes. Now I am in a walking boot for the tendon that connects that accessory to the ankle for at least 4 weeks. I'll have spent at least a fifth of the year in a boot. Awesome...

Ah the memories of the old startac flip phone. Nothing like going over your time and paying a 350 dollar cell phone bill.
....and a battery that would last less than a day -- maybe.

Ah, the good old days. Late 80s, early 90s, we used to wear pagers at work. Before that, mgrs would have to call your first pickup and ask them to have you call into work.
