Hopefully someone can help me out with a programming issue we are having with a 6L90e auto from a Chevrolet Express fitted with a Duramax.

We are running this auto standalone with an aftermarket controller in a Toyota - the standalone setup seems to work fine.
The issue we are having is we have purchased some brand new autos from GM (part number 24256185) and they come with no program in the TCM.
We have the GM MDI unit which lets us plug into the auto to program it but it requires a VIN to load the appropriate program.

We have found a few VINs for the Express with a 6.6 and 6 speed but the VIN has to match the model of auto for it all to work.
Mr GM said they can't help us.

Does anyone know how to get around the VIN issue or how we can work out what VIN will allow us to program these autos?

Any help would be awesome
Thanks Elliot

I've used AUTOTRADER in the past to get VINS so I could get a GM flash for what I needed. It takes some time, but you just search until you find one like you want and get the VIN from it off the AUTOTRADER site.

Go to a dealer and ask to see a duramax van with a 6l90e. Get the vin.

Thanks for the information.

Not using a GM ECU was our downfall, after a lot of searching we needed to fit 2 resistors which bypassed the need for an ECU and both EFI live worked correctly as well as the GM MDI unit.
Brayden thanks for the Vin it worked a treat!
