Ok, just got my first Diesel last week, 04 CC/SB, went from a HEMI magnum with 400RWHP and 500RWTQ...so, of course im looking to play with the Diesel a bit too... Been looking at PPE standard was looking for some pros and cons fron current users. my rig will be a Daily driver, occasional tow rig, and like to play on the drive home at night to destroy Rustangs...maybe a Vette too... like the old wagon could... So fire your advice my way. My goal would be 450 HP anf 700TQ to keep it safe and fun without massive overhauls and trans mods.

From the sound of it your like most of us on here your, not going to be able to keep your foot off the floor, and shooting for 450rwhp your going to need a built trans. Im not sure what a safe horsepower is for the 5 speed allison but Im sure its lower than 400rwhp. The ppe standard is great, but if your going to go deeper into diesels in the future(built trans) and your not worried about money EFI live is a great investment :thumb:

True with the gas pedal, but i wnat this to be more plug and play, did my time with dyno sessions with the last car, want to keep this one a little simpler. my goal is 450 HP, not too worried about RWHP numbers this time. just curiois of the limits on this thing without rebuild

you can survive on 100rwhp over stock but thats about it. and thats driving very conservatively. PPE is a good for power and is just like you said, simple. but once you have limped the old girl, its just going to get easier and easier

Well, for plug and play, a PPE Hot +2 ET would probably be the ticket. My truck dynoed 446/820 on the 330 tune with the rail pressure something like 7000# low... had it been holding proper rail pressure, it probably would have been over 500. Of course, to run that kind of power, you WILL need to build the trans and get a new converter or else you'll kill it QUICK.

The other option would be a tune from a vendor such as IdahoRob. They tend to be more refined than the "canned" tunes. Once I finish my swapping for now, I'm going to get a 453rwhp LBZ tune from him.

You would definitely want to go with a handheld programmer.

Select one of the PPE programmers. The Hot+2 is the most popular and offers the most power levels of the series.

I think i will, but i might just stick with the standard and run it on 2, think that will be safe enough... no big dragstrip dreams for this, mostly towing daily driving with the occasional burnout to embarass any ricers on the commute home :D
