Noisey 5spd under decel after rebuild

I just replaced a p2 and c2 hub on a 5 speed in a 2001. When coming to a stop from freeway speeds( slowing down in general ) trans will make each downshift properly and quietly until it down shifts into 1st gear. Once in first gear and under decel it makes a noise. Almost like a dry bearing noise, move shifter into neutral noise goes away. Shift back In drive still under decel noise comes back. I'm curious what it might be, and if you've had to deal with a similar concer before. I'm thinking maybe I forgot a thrust bearing somewhere and under decel the plant moves and creates the noise. If I had left out a bearing then I would assume the end play is wrong ? I checked end play on both sides of the trans assembled and were within spec.

Any advice or help would be nice and greatly appreciated !

There is no endplay at the rear shaft. If you had some, you are in trouble. Front shaft should have a little. I'm guessing there is a Torrington in there upside down. Stop driving it till you fix it.

So the trans I was working on came from a 2005. Lly you originally did it but then the trans lost 4/5 th gear. ( not Zachs truck ) and my friend who bought it has a 2001 lb7. I took the planet and hub from the 2001 and installed it in the 2005 trans and used the valve body from the lb7. I noticed on one of the planets it has a plastic thrust washer of a sort that is notched to slide around the pinions and the other trans didn't. Could me using two planets from the 01 inside the 05 create this problem ?

Not unless you.left that part out. They all use the plastic thrust washer you are referring to. Since it was an upgraded transmission it should have also had a metal spacer underneath of it.

Yes trans was originally build by Mike l. For a friend of mine. There was a metal spacer under one and not in the stock one. I will be tearing down trans once again and change all the planets from the one and swap it to the other using the metal spacer behind the plastic one. Is the fact the metal spacer is not in the trans a reason for the noise in decel only in first gear ?

This piece ? Is it mAchined from oem to accommodate the metal spacer behind factory plastic ? The inner bushing was better in the 2001 planet so I used that one instead of the 2005 one ( as pictured above )

The .100 spacer is installed under the plastic washer to support the extra clutch in C3. Without it, the extra clutch has no splines on the ring gear to support it and it will just spin and make noise.

I've been seeing that the c2 hub has couple different designs basing the overal height being different ? Is there anything in the 2001 vs the 2005 that will be different besides the trans cooler fittings ?

Since I pulled the bell housing yet never loosened the pump to bell housing bolts can I get away without replace the gasket between bell housing and spacer plate ?
