drove 300 miles after not driving the truck for a week, and then parked in the garage last night. ran a bunch of errands all day, then shut it off for 2 or 3 hours at about 0 degrees outside. ran around some more after that, and shut the truck off for another hour and a half. went to start again and nothing.

truck ignites, and as soon as it does it dies. primed it and nothing more happened. trucks sitting in the garage over night, was just wondering what you guys might think it could be.

i did try the truck after it sat inside a couple hours, and still the same thing. im guessing fuel pump, but before i drop my tank id like to no what you guys think.

thanks in advance.

Does it crank/turn over?

it will turn over and ignite, then instantly dies. a while ago it gave me a code after i turned on my high idle. i turned on my high idle, and it kicked off after about 5 seconds, and gave me a large fuel leak code. im wondering if the fuel pump had maybe surged and it starved for fuel for a second, and the truck thought it was leaking fuel. i really think its the fuel pump.

at WOT in 4th gear right before the shift to 5th gear, it makes this odd noise out of the exhaust which sounds like it needs fuel, in the stock tune. but maybe that could be my dying transmission. :roflmao:

Our trucks don't have a fuel pump in the tank. The fuel supply system is all under vacuum up to the injection pump.

Does the truck kinda sputter down when it dies? Or straight up act like someone turns the key off immediately after it starts?

Pump is in the tank isnt it? Borrowing a tech 2 from the state shop today. Going to scan and see what i can come up with. Going to check the bleed screw and sensor for and cracks or air leaks.

Michael,
No fuel pump in the tank... Have you checked your engine oil? Real quick to check that you don't have fuel in there. Then I would do as Mack suggested and check the return rates. You will have to check the return rates per bank though on your LB7.

hmm. always thought there was a pump in the tank.. :eek:hgeez: anyways, i got it started. the truck didnt sputter, it was like i was just shutting the key off. i went and got a new ignition switch and that ended up solving the problem.:woott:

thanks for the help guys.
