LBZ: No start/No crank

[LBZ-DURAMAX]

I've got a 2007 lbz with 74k miles and in the last winter it has started not starting every once in a while. All the dash lights come on full brightness and when you crank the key the lights stay on and bright but the truck won't even try and crank... Give it a few minutes and it'll will start like normal. Any thoughts?

I thought I heard a clunk from the starter like it's stuck but even smacking it with a hammer wouldn't help... I was planning on replacing the starter any brand better than another?

To bad they don't make them like they used to... The original starter just went out on my 1985 6.2 gmc this fall lol

Does the radio stay on while cranking? If so, it maybe your ignition switch, all the accessories should turn off while in cranking position. If not, I would put a test light on the started leads, see if you are getting voltage.
Best to troubleshoot before throwing parts at it.
