Well i loaded a new tune in my truck and it ran great and made good smoke then cleaned up after the boost came. Well i drove 4 hours to my ranch the other day and just got back today and now there is no smoke whatsoever, even when the turbo isnt spooled at all. For a tune that smoked as good as it did before and now just has no smoke i think theres somethin wrong with my truck. Itll throw a couple codes occasionally but when i try to read them it says theyre arent any so idk. Any ideas on whats going on? Im not complaining about not blowing smoke though but wanted to make sure my trucks ok.

Have you tried logging it to see what's going on?

Honestly i dont know how. I havent had time to figure it out, partly because my stupid computer battery is so bad it doesnt last more than a minute so ill have to get my other laptop setup. How exactly do i make a log though?

Under The Hood
Open up the Scan tool, then enter you VIN.

Now go to the PID tab and select your PIDs. Some thigns to monitor are Actual Fuel Rail Pressure, Commanded fuel rail pressure, difference between AFRP and CFRP, throttle position, RPM, boost, and such.

Then hook up your cables and push the green button in the top left corner. Select the moduel you wish to connect with.

Now you need to push the yellow box to monitor it or the red box to log it. Once done logging click the stop button. Then save it. (ie Log_0001)

Now you can go back and watch it, the dashboard will show you good info especially dashboard B the one with all of the boring lines.

It takes some seting up and getting used to but is veery helpful.

how do you know you can clear them if you can't read them

Lol because the check engine light goes off if i clear them. The CEL comes on sometimes after i hammer it then when i go to read them theres nothing but when i clear them the CEL goes off

I'm not sure..

In theory, if you can sustain stock parameters it would still run stockish.....but not have enough flow to support the extra mm3 of fuel in your tune.

The code may be a low rail psi due to it calling for more fuel, but not being able to deliver due to restriction in the filter...

Sweet, how hard is it to change the fuel filter? Pretty easy right?

Yeah..it's simple.

In fact I just picked up a strap wrench to go on a 1/2" ratchet for the fuel filter, about $5 @ Advanced...haven't tried it yet though.

Just be sure to disconnect the water in fuel sensor wires before you try to unscrew the filter, I use channellocks to get the wif sensor out, use a little fuel on the rubber ring in the middle to help it screw on easier, screw filter on, crack the bleeder screw, pump until fuel comes out, tighten screw and then pump until the pump gets hard to push...

Edit...I drop mine down out and grab it from the inner fender, the inner fender will flex enough you don't have to remove it...its easier to screw on from the bottom also.

Hope that helps.

If you do a search there should be a diy on here....its not that difficult once you try it.

The water in fuel (wif) sensor is in the bottom of the filter, you have to disconnect the wires under the filter. Also you have to take out the wif sensor and put it in the new filter before putting the new one on, o-ring is included as well as new filter-housing o-ring....the screw I'm reffering to is a black plastic hex head 13mm(?) w/straight slot on the filter head, hand prime pump is there also....once the filter is in place and tight, you have to fill the new filter with fuel and bleed the system so the engine will start.

Clear it up?

Not jackin your thread but my LBZ is also trippin the CEL and the V2 doesn't see any codes. My dad is drivein my truck while buildn the new shop and the CEL has turned on 4 times and my buddy has checked 4 times for codes. And nothin is there, so he hits clear and the light goes off for a while, then comes back on. Any ideas is it the fuel filter? Anything else possible. Sorry for thread jackin:hug:

You might have to select the LBZ PIDs to check the codes. If that doesn't work, use the scan tool to pull the codes. Just hit the connect button in the upper left hand corner (the little green dot below File, making sure to select LBZ ECM from the drop down menu in the pop up window), then click the little red engine icon.

Well I changed the fuel filter and that fixed the smoke problem. Still got codes though. I need to clear them and see if they go away for good though.
