That is the problem. I have used basically the same tank on two different trucks, and I found out that they won't build pressure without a cap that has a spring loaded disc/cap thing. I never tried filling it to the top though. I just got a cheap cap from the local parts store, and it worked.

Would you happen to have a part number for that cap? I tried to ask for a cap like this and the parts guy wouldn't do anything for me unless i gave him a year/make/model or part number. He said he's got 10,000 caps and has no idea where to start looking.

I don't. I just took the cap that I had in there and said I need one that has a spring to hold the little disc up to the bottom of the cap. It was their house brand, but it's a smaller parts house chain that doesn't have any stores up where you are anyway. Have you tried anywhere besides Autozone, like Napa or Carquest? I found that those two usually seem to have more knowledgeable people behind the counter who are more willing to help than the places like Oreilly's, Autozone, etc.

I'll go look around some more tomorrow afternoon and see what I can find. I did not try car quest yet. The closest one to me is about 10 miles away so I always forget about them.

The vatozones and oreilly's by me are ran by total newbs. I went in looking for a roll of exhaust wrap. Browsed around for a min on my own then asked where it would be and he said "isle 6 by the exhaust pieces"..like that wasn't the first place I looked. So i looked again, didn't see it. So i walk back to the front and tell him I'm not seeing it over there and he says "oh ok". That's it..so i said we'll alrighty and walked out.

If i need something standard and quickly i got to vatozone. They will let me come with them behind the counter though, which is nice.

If i need something not standard I go to NAPA. Plus the NAPA distribution warehouse for the region is directly next door, so if they dont have it in the store they can get it in less than an hour.

We want to see some track passes on that thing Mike!! Let's go already! :thumb:

They could just charge 10$ more and include a cap? Don't see it being very useful without one.

Went to oreilly's to see if I could look at their cap selection. All he'd do for me is pull up the picture on the computer, which didn't show anything. He claims he's never in his life seen a cap with a spring under the vacuum release thing. Off to napa I go.

Well I'll be....I spoke too soon. Homie at autozone foundd me the right cap. Spring loaded and everything. So far so good, squeeze the upper rad hose and it hold. I'll post the part number after verifying it works. I don't see why it won't tho.

I only go to AutoZone when I need chemicals. If I need to talk to a person about parts I go to O'Reilly or NAPA.

The local auto zone goes through Flunkies quite quickly. I went in to get plugs. The girl thought they were injectors. She had them in her hand and never realized that they were different. Took my plugs and headed for the door.
