My cluster has been bad for quite some time now. Just recently my oil pressure gauge crapped out. So now Im considering sending it out to be repaired. But, my truck is my only vehicle. Can I drive around for a few days with no cluster? Or will the ECM recognize the absence of the cluster and not allow the truck to run or something?

IIRC you can. It is easy enough to test. Unplug it and see if it starts.

IIRC I started my 06 without the cluster installed when I was working on the radio. If it did set a code, it was easy to clear with my new code reader from autozone.

Does anyone have a place that fixes the clusters that they recommend? I see them for $400+ on ebay with no core charge or exchange. But I believe there are places that will do it for less if you send in your broken cluster. I also see that you can just buy new stepper motors, but Im not too sure about replacing the stepper motors. Id rather have it done right than try it myself and screw it up.

Does Ben fix them?

Try car-part.com for a replacement. That has to be the best website next to rockauto.com and the likes. :thumb:

I got mine from "digital dash solutions". Found them on eBay. I don't remember the exact price but it was less than 400 for a new one. And he does offer to rebuild yours for cheaper too. Great warranty and customer service. I had a problem with my new one and he sent me a replacement right after the hurricane hit them (Connecticut). Great ppl to work with.

x2 on digital dash. They're pretty good. The replacement of the stepper motors is pretty easy and should be fairly cheap. ~$100-150 IIRC for all of them. Find them on ebay.

You can drive around as long as you want with no cluster...

Do you have an android or iphone? If so you can get one of these for $20 and a free app called "Torque" which will let you see virtually everything the cluster would (just for temporary) so you can watch your speed, fuel level, etc:

Go to gmgaugerepair.com or dallasclusterrepair.com they fix the stepper motors for $110-$120. For that price they'll do a complete rebuild. That's were I'd start.
