Just finished installing all power packs and overhaul. I have no second gear (just limps) and was thinking that the c4 was installed incorrectly..I installed the clutches right and also installed the additional peek thrust washer on the inside of the one that was originally on the p1 planetary. Second is c1 and c4..I have first and reverse and of course 4th(limp mode)..
Codes are p0732 and p0776..valve body checks out perfect

You didn't overhaul the trans, you threw in new clutches out of the box. Peek is plastic and that's what the 2 plastic washers are made of. P0732 never shows up unless you have a bad speed sensor in the transfer case or turbine speed sensor. Last thing is a total screwup on the C4 clutch pack.
What was the clearance on the C4 clutch?

Included in the c4 power pack is a steel "peek" washer. I purchased a overhaul kit that included seals, both Teflon and rubber, gaskets, and pistons. And Mike I'm sure there are many levels of overhaul, but I was just referring to the "overhaul" kit that I purchased. The clearance was checked and within alto spec when installed. Wish I wrote it down for you.

Reading over alto I noticed the peek washer was part of the c3 installation. The only thing I left out is alto recommendation to install the thicker steel in the middle of the clutch pack. I did not do that and can't see how that would make a difference.

The thicker steel plate is installed in the center of the clutch pack for better heat dissapation. It won't make any difference as far as operation. I think this trans needs to come back out.

Well tonight I logged some parameters with the scan tool.
While studying commanded vs current gear I noticed the truck shift..commanded 2nd- current gear 2nd -and on up to 5th and down to first..I'm thinking it's a miracle and grab the jack stands out and take for a ride..I did not even leave the driveway and boom there it is a p0732..so back into the shop and up on the jack stands..and once again some p0732s and no shifting..what the heck!..does it have something to do with the trans being cold?
..thanks for help thus far mike and hopefully u can make heads of this

Included in the c4 power pack is a steel "peek" washer.

steel peek washer is an oxymoron. PEEK = polyether ether ketone. It's a type of plastic material, typically dark gray-green in color. So, it was either a steel washer or a PEEK washer, but not a steel PEEK washer ;)

Ok so I guess my findings don't point to anything (previous post)
With the help of my friends truck I will be using his valve body in place of this one to see if the same p0776 and no shift to second occurs..
Man did it shift awesome last night with the tires off the ground..only if it was consistent and happening more than once...what a tease

After speaking with the professor of transmissions..Mike L explained to me that I used the .250 apply plate as a backing plate..but it was a good thing that I did because alto never sent me the .98 kolene steel. Just a bunch of .67 steels. So to compensate I used the stock steel .98 in place of one .67.
Thanks Mike

Having problems again. New codes..p0731 p2723 p0706...this trans is driving me nuts..when I shift to drive with my foot on the brake it displays "range shift inhibited"
What u think Mike?

Just to recap: took trans apart once again..assembled c4 correctly..measured clearance to be between 65-70 thousandths..put back together and in truck and now like I said in my previous message I am getting codes:(

You didn't put the C3 top plate (with 3 thrust washers pop-riveted) in the C4 clutch pack did you?
