I've got the 420S's and they do well on dry pavement and are exceptional when its raining. Dont let that big 'water channel' fool you though, you will hydroplane like a mother****er.

 Exceptional when it's raining, but hydroplane like a ****? So are they good or bad in the rain? I'm asking because I was considering the 420s for my next tires.

I mean when the pavement is wet they grip very well. If you hit a big pudd, it will still hydroplane. That channel doesn't move enough water to keep contact.

Ok, I'm with you now. Overall a good tire though? You are running the same size tire that I run. How are they wearing?

I have run both and like the toyos better at the track. But they make st2's now and I don't like those. So I changed to the 420's and they are a great tire. Like said above they're great in the rain.

I have about 12k on them and they look like new. Thats running 600hp in 2wd 95% of the time. I don't tow anything, but the load rating on them is not as high as the OEM tire. In fact, if you take the truck to a 'Discount Tire' or the like they won't mount them on 8-lug wheels.

Hmmm, that's weird. My stock tires were rated at 3042 each, and the 305/50R20 Nitto 420S is rated at 3086 on Nitto's website. I'm glad to hear they wear good.

I went into it not expecting them to wear very well and due to their price, I would still be doing better than my last set of tires if they only lasted 15k.

They are wearing well and I have rotated them once so far. I have cut a 1.7 60' with them but I have toe-in issues, not traction issues.

My Cooper Zeons did not wear well at all. A little over 25k miles, and they are just about completely gone. I regularly had them balanced and rotated also (about every 5000 miles). I think I ran too much pressure in them though. The center wore out way faster than the outer edge. I was running about 48 psi in the fronts and 40 in the rear.

Don't worry about the load carrying. The 305/50R20 are rated for more weight then the stock LT245/75R16. I would run 35 in the front 30 in the rear when empty for the best wear and puncture resistance.

That's what pressures I'm running in mine now.
