You dont know how slow you are...

I run that same turbo and it scares me to break the motor too. I am going to a smaller charger, probably S465. Since I got the new charger I never floor it on the street anymore, it is extremely dangerous even with my sticky tires.

yeah but you're at 620 hp. i want to be around the 580-600 mark. nothing more at all. and if i bend a rod i'll be walking for a while.

its not going to be tuned balls to the wall. i dont care about ET as much as my motor. im gonna tell rob to keep it safe. and the way i see it is that there is plenty of guys running twins on the stock motor makin 50+ psi and alot of hp. havent seen any horror stories on here or DF about guys blowin their motor. im sure i could tune it all out max effort and rape every single one of my rods, but im not.

60% nozzles and 85% pump...

if hes really running a PW that big hes asking for trouble lol. that's considerately more then you can do with stock sticks max effort. specially considering hes probably holding 25-26k doing it....

yeah his is de tuned quite a bit. he has alot more fuel then me. so if he hasnt popped his motor yet then im not too worried. 600 hp would satisfy me. 500 already scares me sometimes. shit, just the other day i pulled out across a lane and had to step on it mid turn, or get hit in the rear. i didnt mean to put it to the floor but i was honestly scared. that was a fun ride.....

:roflmao: i was one of those guys for about two months. after about 10-15 passes on a 2900uS tune that held 21-22k rail pressure i have a bent rod/s (one for sure i know of). No two motors are the same. Keep your mind open that you could very well bend a rod otherwise you could be setting yourself up for some severe disappointment. i like to think mine bent due to the heavy unsprung weight and how much torque i was putting out below 2400rpm but i couldnt tell ya if that was the exact cause

Not a lot of people are excited to post up that their engine failed. I would, because I value sharing information, as thats how we got here today.

You will be needing a new engine sooner than later.

Um, aparently this guy didn't see my engine diagnosis thread either? Got 3 passes out of it this year. Yours will blow up too! I promise:thumb: If you want to keep your shit together. DO NOT change the stock turbo. PERIOD

Not tryin to be a downer but expecting to be fine because some got away with it isnt the way to go about these trucks. I just dont want to see you partin this truck out cause the motor blew so soon and funds cant fix it. I went into those twins knowing full well i could bend rods. i tired REALLY hard to keep my foot out of the throttle but when you can light 37s up in second gear from a roll without boosting up, you find yourself wanting to keep doin that :D. just keep a level head and tune torque out of your motor. Having a single makes that easier.

Actually the single is worse because it lights so violently. It is hard to keep the power down and still be able to stay on top of the charger. Thats why I'm going smaller, tired of not spooling until 3rd gear on the street.

So basically all chargers that are much bigger than stock and twins are jsut asking for bent rods :D. This is good steve, i forsee the limo causing mass domination to "yourslo" truck:woott:

I know I have tougher LBZ rods, but I've been on a S475 for a while now with no issues other then its not fast enough. If you romp on it the turbo does light violently and breaks the tires loose. I've spent some time getting a street tune dialed in for spool up and it works very well. I can line up next to a tuned stock truck and still pull away faster with both trucks not boosting. It has a lot do do with converter choice and tuning though.

All I'm getting at is if you spend the time on tuning at have the right set up they aren't laggy.

I'm up to a 3250 pulse on my all out tune... may increase it more here shortly. But thats with 35* timing and 29k rail pressure. I will post up when it fails too ( i know it will at some point now)

im not too worried about granading the motor with this 472. im gonna keep the tuning conservative and im good about not puttin it through the floor all the time. I know very well that anything can happen whether its a stock truck or 700 hp drag truck. we take a chance everytime we go down the strip but unfortunatly for us we like the feeling of hauling ass more than the thought of popping a motor scares us. thanks for all the words of wisdom and advice. whats the going rate for an lb7 block?

You have the rods, but your pistons are squealing. Keep an eye on EGT so you don't melt a piston and you can make that live.

A bare block goes for 300-450, depending on the condition, etc.

I'm gonna have to change it to 'IMSLOWW'
