I inked the deal with NHRDA this morning to shoot the world finals at Ennis. I got some new toys I will be playing with, and hopefully I can buy 1 or 2 more before the race. I'm also going to try and find a way to get some transportation out there…i burned way too much time walking in the spring race.

You do a great job! Looking forward to seeing your work after the races

Thanks. Dad's letting me borrow the golf cart and a friend is letting me borrow a trailer, so i should have wheels. I think i walked a good 5 miles in 1 day at the spring race. MAde for good exercise, but killed way more time than I should have. Having tractor pulls the night before will help, too. I'm hoping (not sure if it will happen) to get a second stationary flash for that event and maybe add another lens to my collection. Right now I have a 10mm fisheye, 18-55, 75-300, and a 500. Sometimes I wish I had an in-between lens size and sometimes i wish I had money.

WOW what a weekend. Photos are processing now. I heard many names from this forum, but I have no idea who is who....official photo tally is 3,803 on the weekend, 765 of those being from the sled pulls.

Actually had my wrist slapped for "being too close to the wall" on John Robinson's last run..... :happy2: (you'll understand when you see the pic I got). Congrats to all the noble achievers and winners. Preliminary discussions are that I will likely shoot both NHRDA races again next year. We all really like eachother- I helped the diesel TV crew a ton this weekend getting cameras jockeyed around and cabling packaged.

I actually scared a few people during the sled pulls....anybody that was there, any over/under guesses on how many calories I burned that night?

thanks. Should have the album up tomorrow afternoon, hopefully. Just waiting for my media computer to hang it's noose or finish batching, whichever occurs first. Considering it has 4 cores pegged at 100% at 3.1 GHz, I'm not sure...

The sled pull was fun. "flash off-auto-on full zoom in" for start, shooting from 100-150 ft. "flash on-auto-off full zoom out" as they came by, shooting around 200-250 ft. I was literally running ahead of the sled, turning a dial, sliding a switch, zooming out, and recomposing a shot, all in about 5 seconds with two hands. Randy (NHRDA prez) actually had more fun watching me than the sleds.

I woke up at 4:30 Friday morning, got the school, taught a chemistry class, got out at 3:05, got to motorplex at 4:00, finished pulling around 10:30 or 45ish?, packed up the camera gear, got home around 1:15, copied the pictures off my camera to computer, hooked the golf cart trailer on my truck and loaded golf cart, got back in around 2, ran the autobatch on the sled photos, took a shower, and got in bed around 3AM. 22.5 hour day.

Got up at 7:30, got to track at 9:15 AM, finished banquet around 9:30 PM, left the track at 10:30, hauled buns to Kennedale, and managed to get there in time to get orange car back to the lanes for 5 cars (dad had been racing there while i shot plex). Got the win that round, got the bye into the final and chose not to run, and eventually runner-upped in the final, 20 behind on the tree and 007 behind at the stripe. Got home around 1:30 AM and went to bed around 3 AM. 20 hour day.

guess I didn't post this one. It's the one I got my wrist slapped for.

So I see John under the tower with the altered body, and head for the 1/4 mile. I'm standing on back seat of the golf cart, about 2-3 feet from the wall. Get the frame set up, he leaves, I get ready to shoot when I hear something to the effect of tire spin, look up, and all I see is John playing dodge-the-cones. I start shooting him as he comes up track (not originally intended) and jump down off the cart shooting this last picture blindly waiting for the car to hook left or right into the wall. Notice the right rear almost off the ground. Dan (video guy) said he saw it off the ground around mid track.
