Just purchased a 2013 GMC Sierra 2500 HD. I'm super stoked!! This is my second Diesel. My first was an old Chevy 3500 k 6.2L crew cab. She was a beast!! I do have a Question. I am smelling the hot smell no rubber, electrical or anything just hot. Is this Regen? I have no message and it's not asking me to keep driving. Any thoughts. I think it's coming from my DPF can. Exhaust is a bit hotter than the first time I checked but not scalding. And I think she might be idling a bit higher than normal.

I thought so. The wife requires evidence that I'm right!! Haha. I reside in Anchorage. Or Los Anchorage as many call it. ;)

Thats F-ed up... The last 3-4 years has been the strangest weather I have ever seen in Alaska...
I thought so too. I was up on the slope in 2013 & 2014 in the winter and both times it was warmer there than at home for the majority of my stay.

Thanks aklbz great info. Here's another Q. When on the hwys here in Ak are there any stations I should avoid with a history of water in their diesel?

I try to always fill at the same station if I can. I've never had a water issue, knock on wood! Always run an additive and change the fuel filter 2-3 times a year depending on how much you drive. You will notice come April/May that your truck will get quieter and you will get better MPG when they get rid of the winter grade fuel.

I think either one is fine, I know people running both. I have a BD Flow Max as of now and it works excellent, It's very quiet and very robust but it doesn't have it's own filters. I built my own filter setup.

Installing a lift pump will make life a lot easier on your CP3/4 pump by not having to suck fuel from the tank to the engine. No real need to spend a bunch of money on a filtered setup. Pick up a good pump and either change your factory filter regularly or build your own setup. I'm running a PPE lift pump and stock filter setup with dual fuelers, never had problem and I am running up to 620 rwhp
