New to tuning, help with trying out some tunes

Did the DPF delete in my dads 2008 and read up on what codes to shut off and figured out how to get that done for now thanks to this forum! Was wanting to load a dsp5 tune that therminator posted to give it a try but read that I have to have the OS match mine. From what I understand I have to find a stock tune file that matches the tuned OS file then compare.

Am I on the right track here or can I just load the dsp5 tune? The OS starts with a 5, I haven't had any luck finding a stock OS to match. And is there a "how to" somewhere about extracting tune info and applying it to my stock .tun file?

Thanks for the help on this.

Also do I have to tape up the wires I cut for the old exhaust?

Send ferminator a pm about this thread so he can respond. He has in depth knowledge and understanding on what you need and how to get it done with tune files.

If you read out your os, its not going to match ferms os. As yours will start with a 1. Efi live changes it to starting with a 5 after you convert it to a dsp5 file. Your best bet would be to read your stock tune out. convert it to dsp5. Save, reopen. then compare to ferms tune and create a script. Once a script is made, you can apply it to your stock converted DSP5 file.

You can compare dsp5 tunes to single tune files so long as the base files are the same. When you do a dsp5 conversion, it changes the end of the os #, not the beginning. After all the epa hub bub, I haven't done anymore lmm delete tunes. If you have the tune, you can do a comparison. The tune I had posted I believe was written on the older 07 7083 while all the updated lmm tunes were the 8594. I don't know if I still have any lmm stuff backed up or not.

Stock Tune File

Stock Tune File attached.

Vin : 1GCHK23668F131631
OS : 12628594

OS for the DSP5 Tune I wanted to compare is 52617083

Looked around for a stock tune with the 52617083 OS but no luck yet...

thanks, I see there is a 12617083 stock file there. Can I compare that to the OS 52617083? Why is the first digit changed to a 5? Is it because it is from a dsp5 tune file?

**EDIT** I think I understand now, I did some more reading and for the DSP5 it has to be a custom operating system... so I am presuming that he just changed the first digit to 5? So that would mean that the stock OS for that tune would be the 12617083 then. If I am right then I will try to compare the 2 files and apply the differences to my stock tune?

-Man I prob sound like a total NOOB but thats the fun i suppose :)

THanks again for the patience and help everyone.

That's what had confused me because Ferminator said it changes the end not the beginning. I understand now though thanks! I did the file compare and exported the differences. I tried for quite a while to figure out how to apply the differences but wasn't successful finding out how other than copy and pasting. Can someone point me in the right direction as to where to read up on this?

Pretty sure I got it, can someone have a look?

Ok so here is what I did, can someone verify my steps?

1)Downloaded stock OS for the .tun file I needed to compare
2)Upgraded that OS to DSP5 and saved.
3)Opened saved stock file
4)Opened Ferminators DSP5 file and compared
5)Created a Script and saved file
6)Opened my stock .tun file with DPF, and Cat deleted
7)Upgraded the OS to DSP5 and saved
8)Opened my saved Stock DSP5 file
9)Ran the script
10)Saved the modified .tun file

I have attached my resulting file.

I do not have a DSP switch yet, from what I understand it will default to the #1 setting with no switch. Is this the case? And what are my options for DSP5 switches? Is the LMM capable of using an APP on the phone to switch?
