So I've just been enjoying my dmax for now so I got bored and needed something to wrench on. I found a 00 jimmy, 4.3l, 5 speed, 2 door, 2wd, with the 8.5 10 bolt, manual locks and windows with 88k miles on it. If you know s10s these are hard to come by. Gonna drop it some more, ordered zq8 wheels for it. My son wants me to show him how to build a motor. Probably gonna pull the 4.3, have the heads ported, small cam, headers. Basic bolt ons, 410 gears. Hopefully make between 250-300 that I can daily still. Should be a fun little truck

oh thats cherry, specially with the 5 speed. do they get the NV3500 or a different 5 speed?

put all the cam you can in there. they are so damn torquey, i wouldnt worry about a loss. Also, i think those came with 180hp, right? the NBS gmc and chevy pick ups with the same engine came with 195 (i had a 2000 gmc 1500 with the 4.3 and nv3500) so might just be a tune change for another 15 hp? exhaust, intake and hypertech tuner made a good bit of difference on that old truck

I believe you’re right James on the NV 3500. The manuals are super hard to find So that’s a good one you got. The vortec heads on the 4.3 don’t need much work to them. And when you do the rebuild get the new updated ”spider” injection setup. Such an improvement.

Yes they have the nv3500. The good years were 94-95 they came with a t5. Dumb me had one of those and sold it. This is probably my 10th s series. I've owned everything except a long bed pickup. I think I'm going to do a marine intake on it. You can swap the 4.3 mecruiser intake with a little work, I did this to another 4.3 with minimal problems. I called torqstorm today and they said they don't make a specific supercharger for the 4.3 but they have something they will work :D I'm not sure what it weighs but it's pretty fun to drive now with just a few mods. I may do a LS swap later, wish I could do it now but they are so time consuming and expensive to do right. I don't feel like having something apart for 2 years.

Love the old s-dime trucks and blazers. I had two square body ones. A HS friend had one with a hopped up 4.3 and he out ran more than one Mustang back in the day. It was a riot.

I know they can be fun but for the effort into a built up 4.3 V6, I've always rather wanted to put that effort into a V8 s10. In fact, I still shop for an s10 for a toy from time to time.

I've v8 swapped a few of these trucks in the past when I was racing. Then I didn't care and I'd throw a carb on them and go. Now I've learned to enjoy the reliability of fuel injection. When you swap a S10 the right way they can get pricey quick. I may still do that to this later on. My son will be driving in a few years and I may give it to him if he helps me build it. On that note I'm not giving him one with a V8 in it 😂.

And so it starts....got about 30 miles from home yesterday on my way home from a buddies wedding....pushed the clutch in and pedal went right to the floor. Got out and there is fluid running out of the bell housing. Figures the nv3500 has an internal slave. So here I go pulling the trans!

Figured I'd update this, been slow as I have been busy at work. Since they put me on quarantine due to my family having covid i have plenty of time! Got all the rear suspension in, all new bushings and 3" drop leafs with 2" blocks, slapper bars. Pulled the fuel tank to put in racetronix pump but broke the sending unit....got the motor reassembled. New bearings, stock rods and pistons but opened up the ring gaps a little, comp 270ahr cam, 215/220 @ .050 .533/.544 lift with 1.6 rockers, 30lb injectors, ported heads with 2.02/1.6 valves. Hoping for 300 on motor then 100 shot of spray. Looking for 13.0-13.5 on motor, 12.0 on spray. Alot more to do!

I think there is a used supercharger kit on perfomance trucks for an s10. I believe T rev has it for sale.

I'm not a member but I'll try to find it. I also called torquestorm, their base model supercharger is 2800, full billet and will bolt right to the driver side of the motor since I'm not running ac or power steering. I'm kinda leaning more towards the nitrous since my wife wants to run/drive this also. Thing that sucks is all the wiring with a 5 speed. I'm afraid to put her behind the wheel of a 400+ hp truck lol. She banned from driving the dmax

I looked it up but it needs not much to work with my truck. I have manual steering and have to change a bunch of brackets. Not worth it to me. Looks like he put alof of thought into it tho

Well guys got it running Sunday! Doesn't sounds to bad for a 262 v6. Have a little wiring to do and finish the interior and it will be able to move. Have to bend some piping for the exhaust to clear trans cross member. Don't mind my garage it's a mess lol. Before you ask that is my son's boots 🤣 depending on what it weight it's should be pretty quick. Curb weight of a base model blazer is 3500. I think I'm closer to 3000 now. Removed ac, power steering, spare and crossmembers, etc. Still factory interior

Almost ready to pull it out of the garage after today. Wired up the nitrous kit, bled the brakes. Need to change gears and install a locker but going to take it out for a few miles. Then gears, exhaust, and tune. Then to the track!
