Adding boost doesn't add power. The boost valve doesn't do much.

The insight doesn't have tunes in it. And that won't read the 0700 codes either

Okay guys finally got a chance to check injectors balance rates...
This is a warm truck at idle... I just bought the truck with 247xxx so I imagine that they have been changed once if not twice... No way for me to know when they were done I suppose since it was not on the car fax report...
I will be doing the work myself... I would hate to replace all 8 if they were changed recently and only one is bad.

Main injection rate not rail pressure. On a stock tune.

Btw the 5.1 is in drive at idle with the brake pushed... It's around 4 in park at idle. I'm not sure if my truck has a tune on it or not. I think it does so I am waiting to here back from the diesel shop so they can flash it back to stock. I also got these numbers

Not sure if that helps... But I'm using torque pro... Anyone know how to get it up.

Since my fuel flow at idle is 95.8cc/m this equals 5.7mm3
So correcting my balance rates I need to add (8-5.7mm3) 2.3 to all of my numbers. This gives me this
Idle

1) +1.6
2) +2.0
3) +1.1
4) +2.5
5) +1.3
6) +6.4
7) +3.9
8) +0.2

Drive
1) +1.3
2) +1.4
3) +0.9
4) +1.9
5) +1.0
6) +7.4
7) +3.4
8) +1.0

Did I do the calculations right? Since I had a fuel rate of 5.7 I need to add 2.3 to all of my numbers. If I have a -1 it will become a +1.3?

Also I am using the torque pro app... Does anyone know which numbers correlate to injectors on the truck. If you were looking at the truck from the front would they be numbered like this
7 8
5 6
3 4
1 2

I decided to perform the gm upper engine injector cleaning method.
before
fuel flow 6.0 l\hr
1) -0.4
2) -0.1
3) 1.8
4) 0.5
5) -1.2
6) 4.0
7) 1.9
8) -2.6

after
i drove the truck hard for 15 mins then check balance rates
fuel flow 6.1 l/hr
1) 0.1
2) -0.4
3) -1.2
4) 0.7
5) -1.5
6) 3.7
7) 1.1
8) -2.3

the truck is still smoking at idle... just thought i would give this method a try... truck does idle much quieter

Okay guys since 6 and 8 were my worst two injectors I decided to replace my drivers side only... At least for now... This is my first time and I am doing all of the work myself... My injectors are coming in the mail tomorrow so I decided to start tearing it down. Really not a bad job at all... Some of the valve cover bolts were a pain to get off, which added an hour or two to the job... I'm gonna replace these bolts with hex bolts...
Anyways cylinder 6 and 8 had the worst balance rate and I noticed they were the only two that did not have the clip holding the outside fuel line to the upper valve cover (the one with the Philips head bolt)... Is this normal? I don't think this would affect my balance rates would it?
I went as far as getting the lower valve cover off and removed from the truck... Started getting dark so I stopped. The fuel lines are soaking in CLR overnight.
Any other tips for me?

Adjust valve lash before you close it up

Got my drivers side out today...
I've been doing a lot of reading and have found more than one person put everything back together only to have to tear it all back down for a fuel leak in one of the lines...
Is there anyway I can test all of that before I put it back together?

Also I had no cups pop out... Only issue I was having before is white smoke at idle... No coolant loss, no fuel in oil... Should I bother pulling the cups or leave them?

Vacuum test the return at the head.

Yes, pull and reseal all the cups.

You can make an adapter to vacuum test the return lines with a brake bleed vac or similar.

Most people recommend pulling the cups, but I never do if they aren't loose, and I've never had one leak. That being said, if you don't pull them and one leaks, I'm not helping you fix it lol

Alright guys. Got the whole thing put back together today... Noticed the truck had a slight miss to it... Checked the balance rates and cylinder 2 had a +15.0... Doesn't change... Stays exactly that in park and drive. What does this mean other than me tearing it back down again?

Well the second try I started it and it was up at 15 and then all the way down to below 1... Must have been a fluke... I was driving it around and all was great and then I developed a fuel leak on the outer rail... Should these be tefloned? Because I did not

No just find the leak and tighten up a tad. Crow foot open ends may help you get to the line easier.
